Acid reflux Questions for you all....

Recommended Posts

Saw the Dr. Today and he said perhaps I should reconsider the sleeve and go with the gastric bypass cause I have a history of acid reflux. He stated they have seen roughly 30% of people have worse acid reflux afterwards. Even with my current treatment of nexium I would still have problems perhaps. Can you all tell me how you are progressing and do any of you have worse acid reflux?

I went in there with my mind set on sleeve and now he has me worried.

Thanks

Jack

I had my sleeve done July 2012. I never had reflux issues until I got the sleeve. I am finally going in for tests this month & may be getting a gastric bypass done. I was suppose to have these tests last year but I keep putting them off cuz Im not sure if I want to go thru with more surgery.

I also became lactose intolerant after my sleeve was done! I have lost a lot of weight & am keeping it off.. I just get tired of vomiting every time I eat.. It happens every day.

I am also experiencing low blood sugar, has gone down to low as 48! my PCP doc says I need to eat every 2 -3 hours, small meals & more Protein. It is still hard for me to get food down. I am not diabetic..

I hope things go well with whatever decision you make!

I had acid reflux before surgery but it got much worse after surgery. Now I have to stay away from dairy because I get such terrible acid problems from it. I still would have my sleeve surgery in a heartbeat, even with the additional problems. Your Dr will know best.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
