My stomach hurts from the surgery, I can't take the pain meds because they make me sick, so I'm only on Tylenol.

I also haven't tolerated pain meds very well. My doctor just put me on a muscle relaxer. The left side of my tummy hurts pretty good even after 17 days. It is getting better but I am a slow healer. So I am going to give it a try and hope this makes a difference. I only have 4 incisions and the left tummy incision was the one they used the most thus hurts the most. I am walking 30 minutes a day but my biggest problem is constipation. Ugh! I am taking the daily liquid stool softener but already had to use laxative once and probably going to have to use again. I move onto puréed foods tomorrow. Any suggestions?

Hi angelface811, I was told to use sf milk of magnesia 2 tablespoons every 4 hours. It's nasty so I put into my night protein shake and then again in the morning. Easiest poop ever, tmi :)

Still having difficulty swallowing anything. Even the tiniest sip feels like I'm swallowing a horse pill. 9 days post op... When will this stop??!!!

I'm not having that feeling at all, and it worries me. I'm sure you will feel better soon.

My surgery was on Wednesday, 21 May. The surgery went off without a hitch. Surgery was scheduled for 0730 and by 1500 I was recovering in my room. Very little nausea, moderate pain (using very little pain killers), and keeping down my liquids. All seems to be going well except for the constipation factor and feeling full. The doctors let me come home today. I want to fast forward to where I feel normal again. Not bruised and icky.

A quick tip for those who haven't had surgery yet. Day before surgery I took 3/4 bottle of miralax. Cleaned me right out.. Not having constipation or worrying about a bm is definitely easier. I remember last surgery I was in agony from constipation. ????

I did a bad thing I was upset cos my daughter was very nasty to me she has no sympathy for my fear or difficulties with pre op diet etc cos she says I brought it all upon myself - I fell into terrible depression so went and bought a Box of fudge and some shortbread biscuits and ate the lot :-( my op is Tuesday morning - I feel bad and very alone with no friends or family support - I have no family other than my daughter and my friends are in Australia :'( And im in England - I hope I haven't messed up my op by eating bad things.

How are you doing? How was your operation?
