I had my surgery yesterday!! I'll be going home tonight around 5 or 6 as long as I'm able to take my liquids ok. I'm a little sore today I've been taking the Toradol every 6 hrs, I'm not using the morphine it makes me too groggy. Definitely gave the left shoulder pain but it is bearable. Had my X-ray thus morning to check for leaks and everything looks good so I'll be getting liquids soon.

How was the overall experience

So far the pain experience is so much less than I expected, i do feel swollen and it feels "heavy" or like " tugging" inside my belly. I've had no nausea, I'd say overall I'm very happy.

Consider yourself lucky:-)

My surgery is Monday at 7:30am. I am getting very nervous and excited all at the same time. I can hardly believe it is this close. I went today and had my hair done and got a pedicure as my mother's day gift from my family. I have been on my pre op diet since the 28th of April and have done very well with it. All the nervousness is getting to me. Really need some encouragement.

Right now I've been focused so hard on this pre-op diet, I've barely thought about packing for the hospital. I know I have to bring my CPAP and I think I need some comfy clothes (don't want my butt hanging out while I'm walking, lol) but I dunno what else.

I'm so anxious for the 20th to get here! I am so impatient... but I keep trying to remind myself that I have PLENTY to keep me busy until then.

Hi everyone! I am on day 9 of 14 day pre-op diet! Thank you God!!!! Didn't know how was would do it but it actually hasn't been bad at all and no cheating at all. My surgery is May 16th an I'm soooo excited! No nervous just ready to start my new life!

I am also scheduled may 21. I'm getting a revision from lapband to bypass.. I'm from CT..

We're in the same boat!!! My RNY is also Monday also (5/12) and trying to calm my nerves... Feeling anxious, happy, nervous, resolute all at the same time..... My time to be at the hospital is 11am- nothing to eat/drink after midnight tomorrow.

I'm sure you will be fine (we both will be) I went to by a timer for after I get home to time my meals vs. when I can drink liquids. So glad it's finally here but it's really nerve-wrecking....

Good Luck to you!!!!!

Hi Cupcake! I'm having surgery May 20th.

I had my surgery this past Monday. Of course I think it will pay off but my experience was a little different. I had to stay in surgery an extra hour because my fatty liver was a bit larger than they anticipated so it was a bigger task to keep it up and lifted out of the way. My surgeon was determined to keep it laparoscopic which I am so thankful for. A total of 4 incisions...one with a drain. I am a size 18 right now. I was in a pretty good amount of pain but I can't handle the heavy painkillers only Vicodin. I had what felt like heartburn for 2 days which they said could be residual acid and sure enough it went away. The incision they used the most burns inside and the other ones itch a bit now. I had nausea for the first 4 days but meds took care of that. I was in the hospital a little over 72 hours. I have been doing my walking at home. It gets a bit easier every day. I love the abdominal binder the hospital gave me in fact I asked for another one and got it. Fits under the breast down to about the top of the pubic bone. I am already off 3 meds and monitoring at home. Yeah! I am up to 60 ounces of fluid a day and about 50 grams of protein but still trying to get in more protein.
