Recommended Posts

Hi!!

Can someone recommend a good tasting Meal Replacement shake? Or maybe a sample pack that I can purchase? I start my pre-op diet on 4/23 and want to be prepared.

Thanks!!

During my pre op Diet they only allowed me no sugar added carnation Breakfast essentials. Very tasty and for$5 for 8 servings if u don't like it, you didn't break the bank.

I am also a fan of the nectar brand Protein. It is a isolate instead of a blend so u will absorb all of the Protein in it versus only some. It is a little pricier but if you buy it online you can usually find better deals, I just purchased the lemonade today for $35 for 2lbs.

At www.mybariatricpantry.com thru also have a sample pack. For $20 They will send u samples of 10 out of the 15 flavors they carry. My favorites are the lemonade strawberry mousse and double stuffed Oreo.

Coming from someone who had tried MANY brands, these are my favorite. I have been drinking At least one Protein shake a day for years Bcuz I knew I didn't take in enough thru my diet.

Hope this helps!

The nectar sampler pack is AWESOME!!! I love the Pink Grapefruit, Fuzzy Navel & Lemon Tea varieties. If you call Syntrax directly at 1-866-333-7403, the price is lower than at bariatricpantry. When you find out which ones you like, you might consider buying them at allstarhealth.com. The prices here are the best, especially if you order three, which then gets free shipping. I would like to try their Cappucino mix also - I've heard great things. I have drunk a nectar shake absolutely every day since my surgery. Sometimes I even blend flavors together.

I love Cafe Caramel Atkins Ready-to-Drink shakes. The are very filling because they have fat in them, too. I only drink one per day, for Breakfast, but it keeps me going until lunchtime. Wal-Mart has six-packs of these for $5.78 around Indianapolis where I live.

I also make one shake per day in my shaker-cup. I add 100% Gold vanilla Protein powder to Decaf instant coffee, a a fendw teaspoons of butterscotch SF pudding mix. (I've just ordered some Walden Farms caramel Syrup to try instead of the pudding mix, though). I heat this shake in the microwave after it's blended, and drink it in the evenings.

You'll hear this from lots of folks, but DON'T invest in much Protein pre-surgery. Your tastes are apt to change. I only drank the Atkins Mocha Latte shakes pre-op, but I couldn't stand them post-op and still can't stand anything chocolate flavored.

Best!

I like Unjury. They fill me up quite well. Muscle milk lite choc, tastes justs like chocolate milk but doesn't fill me up. I just ordered a sample pack of the Syntrax Nectars from Bjs bariatrics.

Fyi I am still pre surgery so my concept of full is different than someone post surgery.

Not investing toomuch pre surgery is a good tip, I've been buying lots of samples, for those reasons. You might not be able to tolerate some kinds

I've only ever drank the chocolate shakes and I can highly recommend Premier Protein chocolate. It is very good. I have only found them at Sam's Club - 12 for $18. I've heard some say they found them a Wal-Mart, but my local one doesn't stock them.

They are my favorite pre made shakes. They have them at costco as well.

My fav are the physicians weight loss meal replacement shakes and bars. I actually lost 60 pounds doing that program before I gained it all back but got attached to the shakes I still to this day drink them. I love their chicken Soup too. They have pretty good food. Www.pwlc.com

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
