Disappointing Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks post surgery, and had my first fill 2 weeks ago. I have only lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks. I lost more weight on the preop diet. I'm starting to worry that this won't work for me. I'm watching what I eat, and eating significantly less than before surgery, but still not much results.

Give it time. It will happen for you..

You are only 6 weeks post op. You need to focus on healing right now & not weight loss.

When you reach your sweet spot OR the green zone (everyone calls it something different), you'll start to see good results.

You can do this. You've already taken the most difficult step...

Try not to be discouraged. Until you get to that "green zone" with your band it may feel like a struggle and just like any other diet without the band you will need the will power to continue to make good food choices.

I've been told a few times on this forum that a loss is a loss is a loss. At least your scale is moving backwards. Keep your chin up and don't get down on yourself or your band. You got this!

10 pounds in six weeks! I would be ecstatic! That's 1 and half pounds a week. Keep up the good work :)

Oh sweet grasshopper. You must be patient with yourself. The results will come, stay the course and keep your eye on the goal. And NEVER ever compare your results with anyone else's, it is a recipe for disappointment and could hold you back. Your body is responding the way IT wants to, give it time.

Thank you all so much! Your positive responses and encouragement made me smile! I will stay positive and keep working on it.

As I have probably said a million times you will not lose weight every single day, week or month. It is normal. Just keep doing what you are doing high Protein low carb and the weight loss will come. It's too early in the game to become depressed about your loss. A loss is a loss no matter if it is an ounce or a lb. You will be fine. Patience is a virtue in the band world. It took me three years to lose all my weight. I did not get depressed but dealt with it in positive manners. Your body is adjusting to a calorie deficit and is saying something is wrong we have to hold on to the fat because we a not getting 3,000 calories a day anymore. Just be patient you will lose weight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
