So I'm on my two week diet and have lost 10 pounds and my whole family says I look like I've lost weight and I look great but for some reason I look at my self in the mirror I look fatter! So I'm worried I will lose 100 pounds and still see my self the same.

You see yourself everyday and have high hopes and goals. You probably wouldn't notice 10 lbs on your self but your family could. I was the same way. If after losing most of your weight you still feel like that I would talk to a therapist about it and get on track but I think you will notice it more and more especially with pictures. I felt like I wasn't seeing a difference., The scale was moving and my clothes weren't much different. Everyone was raving how great I looked. Once I compared my week before surgery to my month out surgery.. HOLY COW you could see it in my face especially.

Oh, how I have been there. It takes time for our mental to catch up with the physical part of us. Losing the weight as quickly. The Fat Goggles need to come off and will at some point. It takes time to adjust to the new you.

Our brains play games with us. And it always will. We see ourselves one way and yet we are another. When an anorexic patient sees themselves, what do they see..fat...It is a matter of perception.

It will take time for you to see the new you and as you start seeing NSV you will start to see yourself differently. But trust me you will still have issues with how you see yourself. Being heavy for a long time makes us see ourselves as large for quite a while. It is part of the retraining of our brains. Learning how to eat better, exercise, take care of ourselves more and resolve what got us to the point where we needed this help.

I am 16 months out and still see myself as a very large woman. my daughter tells me all the time that I am not and that I see things with a fat head. I am working hard to overcome this issue....

Keep talking it out with your family and ask what they think. I know I have to because I always feel heavy! they are a great stabilizer for me.

Thanks everyone! This was very helpful! :) I think I'm going to start seeing a therapist sometime after surgery so I will be able to take the fat goggles of!

My "fatter look" came because my belly was so big that the fat loss on the rest of my body was easier to see. When the rest got smaller the belly seemed bigger. The keg is not yet a six pack but it casts no shadows on my legs. :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
