Hi All ,

I had lap band surgery on 3rd Feb and had my first fill on 5th March 2014 ,I have lost 4 Kg since surgery and I want to start exercising but am scared ,my doctor said I should wait another 2 weeks.I really want to start as I feel very inactive and useless.I feel fine and have had no issues apart from the usual aches and pains. All advice would be welcome. Can I use a stretch band ,running ,stair climbing etc

God Bless !

ALWAYS follow your doctors advice! He knows your history, and that's what you're paying him for... to provide you with the best advice so you have a healthy outcome... every surgeon is different as to what advice they give their patients. Just follow your surgeons advice, he has your best interest at heart. There will plenty of time to exercise. Just focus on healing and recovery for now :)

as whisper said, ALWAYS confer with your doctor......nothing wrong with walking...if it hurts, stop..

..that is pretty much all i was able to do for the first 100 pounds i lost..

Are you allowed to walk? That's all I was allied for a while. After about two weeks they said I could swim. You're not eating that much and (for lack of a better word) 'traditional' exercises could be dangerous. You could pass out and hurt yourself. With everything on the inside still being swollen you could pull something or rip some stitches (just guessing). Give yourself plenty of time to heal as well as getting used to the lower calorie intake. I know I was dizzy for a while after starting this journey.

Follow your doctors rules. 2 weeks will fly by quickly. :)

When I started exercising, I rode a stationary bike bc the seat of the bike carried my weight. That's how I began to build up cardio endurance. My doctor said to wait six weeks to start exercising, but he encouraged us to do a lot of walking..... Not at a pace to build up a sweat, but at a comfortable walking/strolling pace.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
