Lap-Band Post-Op Questions???

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Ok so I'm 4 days Post-Op. I am almost 100% healed up, I mean the scabs over the incisions are already falling off. I have absolutely no appetite at all I mean "Zero" I don't even think I coming near 200 Calories a day, if that. I don't feel weak, I feel normal as always. I still can't seem to keep much liquid's down, nothing painful, but I Burp and up it comes. I was told I was breathing in to much Air, so I've been very careful with that, makes no difference, it still comes up. I can go more than 2 hours without any sort of liquid and start developing the "Foamies" as I guess there called? The weight seems to be Melting off, as far as the scale keeps telling me, I still can't really see anything! I was Weighed in the day before my 2 week Opti-fast Diet (3/12) at my Surgeons office at 341lbs. The day of Surgery (3/27) 322lbs Today's Weight 313lbs. Since the day of Surgery I'm dropping Approx. 3lbs a day, but like I said I'm hardly hitting 200 Calories a day. So is this Normal? Is there any reason to call the Doctor Monday Morning? I mean I feel good, healing up great. I'm trying to just take very little sips when I do drink, but then...Foamies! I'm out and about everyday doing my normal things, no problem. I am taking my Vitamins, and my Meds, they seem to stay down with no problem. So do I have a problem? Or not?

I also found out why my Ear was Plugged up, went to my PCP and he put me on a liquid Antibiotic (Keflex) He said my Middle Ear Drum had an Infection. I'm having no pain, started on the Antibiotics yesterday morning, but still can't hear anything, my left Ear is still Plugged shut. Which is just annoying as hell...

Look forward to all of your impute!

Much Thanks,

Rocko~~

My only concern is that you can't seem to keep fluids down. I was told that above all else, keep the fluids going in. They didn't care if I didn't eat much at first but the fluids must keep pumping. If you feel good, you probably aren't dehydrated, but it can't hurt to ask your doc abut it Monday morning.

Yeah - I agree with Syrah.

Sounds like you are healing well - I just also wonder about not being able to keep anything down. Have you tried taking ridiculously small sips (and does it still come up on you?)

I was banded 5 days ago and I also have no appetite, but I try to keep drinking something all day.

I don't have a problem keeping things down - just have that heartburn/ tightness in chest.

I would check in with my docs office on Monday morning just to be safe.

Good Luck!

I know that anesthesia effects hearing as well. So in addition to the infection, you could have some residual effect from the anesthesia. Keep updating, I'm right behind you. :)

i have to thank everyone that has helped me out so far on here - this site is a great big help!! my chest pains and tightness is gone now- thanks to the help- Rocko- the first week i couldnt eat anything bc of the pain- its good that you are burping though- that pain in chest is all caused by gases that accumulate throughout your body - mine was behind breastbone and in my back...i took the gas-x pills and walked and it helped it overnight.. i am not taking in more then 500 calories a day- well except today bc i cheated - :cry but try the gasx pills- it helps alot

now i have a question- someone explain the fill to me- my first one is coming up on Thursday and im nervous- is it painful??

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
