My band slipped and I had to get the all the fluid removed . I was experiencing discomfort with my band. It started with the late night vomiting. I really nervous about this, but know I did the right thing about letting my doctor know how I felt.I just hope I can maintain my weight. I feel really vulnerable right now.I will have to go back in 4 weeks for another Endoscopy.

I got paperwork from my insurance company saying they would not cover the removal of the lapband. I figured that was the way they were going....which is why I did the entire thing in Mexico. And so far...no regrets.

it's such a coincidence that i've been thinking about this and i have a friend that messages me on fb that lives 15 miles from me that went to Mexico and had it done 3 months ago, so if i don't get the results i want to hear tomorrow, i'll be going to her dr in Mexico. It was $8700 she said for everything except the flight Laura71. i'll keep you posted tomorrow.

Mine was 5800 for everything except flight. I feel like Dr. Ponce is an excellent surgeon, my incisions and bruising have been minimal. If I had to do it over again, I would probably take someone with me, mostly because I was lonely, a little scared, and bored in the hospital, and the nurses really did NOT speak English. In the end, it all worked out, and the woman who scheduled my surgery (TRISH) was wonderful and helped with the communication barrier. AND...I've had my boobs done, and Dr. Ponce did his stitches just the way the plastic surgeon in Dallas did his, and while I looked like frankenboob until the stitches healed...the resulting scar is really really fine and thin. So I have high hopes for minimal scaring from the THIRD and final laparoscopic surgery I've had. (mederma is already purchased and ready to use)

cool. see that's another thing i worry about, about losing my band is i've had a tummy tuck, lipo, and my boobs done too and i don't want to gain weight and all that money was shot to hell. i just want to get to my goal weight which i haven't done in 8 years and have followed the diet good. i eat clean, workout 2 hours a day with trainer and friday i do kickboxing. you'd think this weight would just fall off of me but it hasn't cause i guess cause of the prolapse i was eating more then i realized. was your band prolapsed Laura71?? I can't rememeber. i go to my dr here in the states this morning and i'm nervous as crap as what he's going to tell me. if i don't hear what i want, ive decided i'm going to Mexico i just have to get my husband on board. he's not liking the idea very well

I am with you Laurie, I have plastic surgery as well and i don't want to gain back the weight. I am so heart broken. I am hoping and praying that my band will go back in place. I am so scared to go to Mexico but I don’t want to leave without any restriction either.

ok Laura71 and Juliannabaca@yahoo.com just got back from the dr and he said i have a minor slip but it's just enough that it won't repair itself so since i have the very 1st band they ever come out with and they have no buckle to just go in and pop it off and let it go back to normal in 3 months he suggested to just go the sleeve. So, he's dealing with my insurance and as soon as we find out something they're either going to replace my whole band since it's so old or do the sleeve but the dr is suggesting sleeve so i won't have to deal with all this again. So, thank you so much to everyone for all the prayers!!!! I can't tell you how much i appreciate all of you through this. I will keep you updated Julianna and Laura. Mine didn't go back down Juliannabaca because my band is the first "model", lol, he said they ever come out with and it needs to be either totally replaced or sleeve but he's pushing the sleeve so i won't have that pressure back on my stomach and he's going to do it all the same day. No Mexico for me!!!

Lauriearnold I am happy that you’re able to get everything resolved at your clinic. That was what I wanted to hear from my Baratric clinic.

Awesome! I'm so glad your dr. was willing to work with you. Let me know if you have any questions. My recovery is going great, and I'm down 6 lbs in a week.

thank you so much girls. i will keep you posted. today i am working on the paperwork i have to fill out again and listening to the seminar online. I have to watch it cause at the end i have to take a short quiz about what he talked about so he knows i watched it and it sends him the results. this could take all day today, lol. i am so happy. i will keep you both posted.

Well, ladies, all I can say is, my band slipped too. I ate more, gained some weight (but not much) but then last Thursday, something did not feel right. I had pain in my diaphram and left shoulder, just uncomfortable. Thursday night began vomiting - not just vomiting but BLOOD. Black and lots of it. Ended up calling the doctor at 2am and I saw him in his office at 6:30am. He did a fluroscope, said it had slipped. He removed all the Fluid and said to come back later in the day for a recheck. I didn't make 3 hours - my office ended up calling rescue as I was still vomiting blood. At the ER, they checked to make sure all the fluid was gone. took Xrays and then 4 hours later a CT Scan. Still the stomach had not gone back down so by 10:30pm Friday night I was in surgery. My 2 1/2 yr old dearest friend - my band - was no longer a part of me. It had to be removed. It had formed scar tissue, was cutting into my stoma and my stomach was dying. YEP ! scary stuff right. I am recovering at home now with only my Plication left. I am so afraid I will gain my 124 lost pounds back. Getting another band is not an option, too much damage. What are my options, won't know until I go for my post-op check next week. Please follow your doctors instructions - to the letter !! If you even think something doesn't feel right, please go to an ER ASAP..I could have died. I still loved my band and I miss it so much, but wow,,,,,what an scare and eye opening event.

WOW, short and chunky. that is vey scary. i believe that's why my dr is working so fast to get this out and switch it to the sleeve. i have no symptoms but i am being very, very careful right now. i'm only eating like 3 oz at a time and i make sure it's Protein and it's something i know can get through the band pretty easy right now. all my Fluid has been removed. your in my thoughts and prayers. take care of yourself.

Have you gone for your postop check yet? Is there a chance your plication will be enough?

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!

I decided to go get a second opinion on my slipped band because I did not like what the 1^st doctor told me. (All he could do is take it out because my BMI is 23.) I went to the doctor that original did my surgery. (She left the clinic where she did my surgery and works at another practice.) She did a fluoroscopy and told me that my band was not slipped. She said that I could get a fill now if I wanted. I don’t know if my band went back into place or my first two fluoroscopies were read wrong. All I know is that I don’t need surgery!!!! And my band is okay!!! I am so so happy about this.
