    Band to sleeve...gaining weight

i'm doing really good. i'm prob one of the only ones that miss my band. I have a hard time knowing when i'm full now until i'm sick. i measure everything out 3-4 oz a meal but sometimes it seems like everything i eat makes me nauseous. I'm dealing with that all day today. I do good on most days but the weight loss is really slow after having band removed cause your body is use to not getting alot of calories still. I had no problems with my band, the band just decided to do it's own thing and went into my stomach where the stomach tissue and scar tissue grew around it and i didn't know it and had no symptoms. I'm 10 weeks out now and taking it one day at a time. I didn't have all this nausea with he band. the dr said it's just going to take time. I think in the long run it's going to do really good and i look forward to see where i'm at in 6 months and a year. i believe you'll like it but just have to get use to what you can and can't eat. sometimes i eat the same thing and one time it'll make me deathly sick and i may have just eaten the same thing the day before and i was fine. i'm just on a emotional roller coaster right now and they say it's normal so i'm hoping it will ease up. good luck girl. gym and working out is a big deal also.

    Band to sleeve...gaining weight

NO you won't gain weight but you won't lose either and i have 2 clients that are overweight and anorexic's and they both have counselors that do work with them and help them. it is not an excuse but a disease and it's really sad to watch them and listen to them about food. One client was in the hospital a couple months ago for starvation and dehydration and she weights 193 lbs at 5 foot. She is very sick and in bad danger. the skinny ones that "think" they are fat and start the starvation diet does loose muscle and weight. it does not work that way for overweight people!!!!! @@NewNewMe

    Band to sleeve...gaining weight

oh, starvation is not a myth!! yes, your body will know when it's not getting enough calories and will start storing the fat away and you will not lose weight. she is totally wrong on that part. find another nutritionist!!!

    Band to sleeve...gaining weight

no, i'm not hungry. like this morning i got up and ate a boiled egg and i'll have to make myself eat lunch later which will prob be left over turkey meatloaf. if i snack, i snack on turkey Jerky that i got at krogers that i am addicted too. it's made by Krave. I've upped my workout to 4 days a week with trainer and the other days i ride my bike 3-5 miles and do sit ups, jumping jacks, jump rope and a few other things. the weight is not coming off like i thought it would at all. since i had my surgery 6/29 i've lost like 3 lbs. I don't know if me having the band for 8 years before is the reason and my body is use to the calorie intake or what. i'm just gonna go with it right now and see where i'm at in a year. hopefully at goal!!

    Band to sleeve...gaining weight

i'm a personal trainer and a nutritionist and this has just thrown me for a loop. It's not good if i get in too many calories and it's not good if i get in less either. being 9 weeks out i thought this would work like the band but it doesn't. I don't eat carbs unless i have 1 pc of bread a week. I'm totally depressed and disgusted too @@calitexan, especially working out 5 days a week with my personal trainer. i go to my surgeon next week on 23rd and i'm doing to ask him about this and what to do about this. i was a self pay in the US and i'll just be sick if i stay where i'm at after paying a whole lot of money to them I am a strong believe in Protein first (which needs to come from as much food as possible), then i eat my veggies.

    Band to sleeve...gaining weight

i'm not losing good either. i her people say your getting in too many calories or you not eating enough. either way i can't lose. i had surgery 6/29 and have lost 15 lbs that's pre diet up to now and i work out with trainer 5 days a week and ride bike on weekend. i'm so discouraged too. i had to pay for my surgery here in the U.S. and i am so down and disgusted!!

Pain in shoulders any tips surgery was 8/10/15

oh YEAH @@undeserving777, I literally thought they pulled my arms out of my sockets of my shoulders i hurt so bad. I used ice, heat and ointments and nothing helped. It was the gas slowly seeping out of my body and it just so happens to come out the shoulders. mine took about 3-4 weeks of finally leaving my body but don't worry. i was afraid they ruined my shoulders, lol. gas-x didn't help, Water didn't help, pain pills didn't help. The dr just said it has to slowly leave your body. so sorry your going through this too, i know it's rough but it DOES get better
  8. i've had 6 of them. they put you to sleep so it's not bad at all.
  9. so sorry girl. with you already having the problem i do believe he'll want you to get a revision.
  10. @@Pinkgirl1234 NO, i had no symptoms at all!! The new dr could not figure out how i was not deathly sick but the band went into my stomach and scar tissue and my stomach healed all around it. I had no reflux, was able to drink and eat anything, no chest pain. NOTHING!! As i said, i just could tell i could eat more and my old dr told me to just push myself away from the table and got very rude and hateful with me that last appt and that's when i decided to change drs. I did it cause i hated my old dr and i thank God every day that that man was rude to me or there's not telling what would have happened to me. I had it in for 10 years with never ever a problem. Lost a good amount of weight and was doing fine with it. The new dr had to do an upper gi because my old dr wouldn't tell him what band i had or how many cc's was in it so i had to go through a battery of tests so he could find out what i had and that's when he found the erosion.
  11. yeah i had no symptoms at all that my band had eroded into my stomach. the only problem i had was i wasn't losing and i could tell i was eating more. I switched drs and the new dr found it and said it had been in my stomach for a good 2 years or more. good luck girl.
  12. I have United Health Care and they would not pay for me to get the sleeve. they paid for me to get it and they paid to have it removed but denied the sleeve for afterward 5 times. I'm very glad i did mine in 2 surgeries now. He told me at one point he could do it in one surgery but that i would have to stay in the hospital for 6 weeks to be checked twice a day for bleeding out or leakage. i took the other choice of waiting 7 months and doing a gi then and see where we went from there. long story short, my 1 1/2 hour surgery ended up being 5 hours long and during it he had to send a nurse to go get the upper go machine so he could use that to go into my stomach to guide him through it. it was a living nightmare. BUT i am now 6 weeks out and doing good. Have had some complications but were fixable without surgery. I am losing weight more slow then a virgin sleeve but that's ok too as long as i'm losing. I'm eating normal food which to me is Protein and veggies, my fav. if you have any questions or need to talk just let me know girl. I've been through the worst of the worst and have now become one of his case studies to show other dr's and patients what can really happen.
  13. my insurance didn't cover mine and mine had to be done in 2 surgeries. I had to wait 7 months because the amount of damage the band did to my stomach, it was horrible. I was having upper gi's every month for 4 months and i still had a lot of holes, damage and paralyzation of my stomach. We decided to quit putting me under the stress of coming in for upper gi's every month and decided to wait another 3 months to let it heal and let my body heal. we knew the whole time my insurance wasn't going to cover it and my dr was just being cautious for me. If i would have done it all in one i would have bled to death internally do to the damage and scar tissue of the inside of my stomach. trust me, take the time and let your stomach heal or you will have big problems. i only gained 6 lbs in those 7 months also. i watched what i ate.

band slippage - sick - surgery next week

hey girl. my band eroded into my stomach and i am just now 4 weeks out from having sleeve. They removed my band 11/14 and i had to wait a while so my stomach would heal. I am now on normal foods and so pleased to have had the chance to get this sleeve. It is so much different. I love this better then i did the band cause i always worried about the band doing exactly what it did and doing the damage that it did. I would def recommend take band out and do sleeve. I've already started losing again and doing so much better. i wished the sleeve would have been available in 2006 when i got my band or i would have went this route first. good luck and prayers

    Protein Shakes

I use muscle milk from GNC in Cookies and creme. It tastes awesome and has a lot of Protein in it. I also like Jamie Easons protien powder on Bodybuilding.com, i love it too. i just like something already boxed up and ready to drink. i've got 3 cases right now waiting for my surgery on 6/29. i had to wait 7 months for my stomach to fix itself after having the band removed on 11/4/14. now 7 months later, i'm ready to go!! Good luck!!

    Needing support

12 days out of surgery is still alot of healing going on. I always get an uti after surgery due to the catheter they put in me. Never fails, i always get one and they send me home with meds for it. The constipation part.....i take 3 metamucil capsules every night before i go to bed and that helps a lot. try and get your calories through your Protein drinks. I drink muscle milk from GNC, that will help with the calories and pudding also helped me with calories. i have my 2nd surgery 6/29 and already prepared and bought everything i needed. I've been through this with the band so i'm ready to go when the sleeve is done at end of month. You'll start losing as soon as you start taking in more calories, which is what the muscle milk helps with and the metamucil at night i drink with my unsweet tea for constipation. prayers girl

Sleeved Monday June 8th and starving :(

i swear by the italian ice that helped me a lot and i ate a lot of Jello with just a dab of cool whip on top. i also drink 1 12 oz of muscle milk in Cookies in cream every day plus the Water. i had to find find other ways to get me through the liquid diet stage. I had my band taken out on Nov 4th and now 7 months later i am finally getting my sleeve on 6/29. I'm excited and scared cause the band worked for me but it worked it's way into my stomach and caused a lot of damage including paralization of the stomach so now my stomach won't empty. we'll get through this girl. this is the hard part. after this it's all Protein and veggies!!!! WE GOT THIS GIRL!!!!! I have to go on all liquids 5 days before surgery but know i can do it cause i did it before the band and i can do it again and so can you. one day at at time.

    Approved for vsg!

Congrats. I'm having mine June 29th. Had to let my stomach heal for 7 months before he could do my VSG due to a lot of thin skin, scar tissue and holes in my stomach that had developed ulcers. Have done really good with maintaining my weight and so excited to get this next ball rolling.
  19. i had my band removed in November and now waiting for the healing process from all the damage the band did to my stomach. I had the band for 9 years and it worked for me great until the band eroded into my stomach and caused some serious damage. THAT was the worse surgery ever!!!! I am still recouping from that surgery, still have 2 small holes in my stomach and the band paralyzed a part of my stomach that will not allow my stomach to empty now. I never had any symptoms there was anything wrong with my band. I noticed i was getting hungry more often and eating more then i should. I now have a surgery date for 3/23 IF my stomach has healed enough for it after my scope on 3/3. I do not worry about eating to much or the sleeve not working cause it's up to me what i put in my mouth. If you eat your Protein first you shouldn't have any problems with no restriction. I have had the same concerns as you but have talked to my dr about these concerns and he has assured me that i have nothing to worry about. Talk to your dr and see if he can give you the insight your wanting. One thing you have to remember is this is all up to you. it's like the band, it's just a tool. You have to work it. I watch what i eat and I work out with a trainer 2 hours a day 5 days a week. I am 40 lbs away from my goal weight and i know this sleeve is going to help me reach that and maintain that. Just got to get your mind set going girl. Good luck!!!

    lap band removal

ok guys, need HELP!! Just heard from my surgeon and i'm going to have to have my lap band removed after having it for 8 years. My stomach has prolapsed in a very odd way and no chance of getting it replaced or repositioning. Too risky of it doing it again. NOW, what do i do. Going to have to have it removed in the next couple weeks so what do i need to expect after the surgery? diet? how long on liquids? how long is recoop?? PLEASE, NEED ANSWERS. I'm scared and worried about gaining my weight back. No option of sleeve either because of my bmi is too low for insurance to pay.

    lap band removal

my pain lasted more then normal @@barbiegirl78 because my band was inside my stomach and i had 2 big holes in my stomach due to the band so mine was more then normal. I had an NG tube in for 2 days and had lots of black toxins coming out of my stomach area. It took me almost 5 weeks to be totally pain free. I did not take pain pills though so i just kind of toughed through it. After having that NG tube and the drains i didn't want nothing else in my body. I'm post op 7 weeks and doing good. still on mushy foods. I go tomorrow for another upper gi and if the hole is closed and healed i will be having the sleeve done on 2/23. if not healed, i will have to stay on mushy until it does heal.

    DENIED

just found out today that my insurance denied my 2nd appeal. Am thinking very seriously at this point to quit fighting with insurance and going to Dr Alvarez in Mexico. My lap band has to come out due to a prolapse that will not fix itself. Been unfilled since December 2013 and very very cautious of what i am eating right not to avoid any emergency surgeries. Has anybody on here gone to dr alvaraz and have a prolapsed band removed and sleeve done at same time. Help i'm desperate right now. ldatda@hotmail.com arkansas

    BAND TO SLEEVE

i had my band removed on 11/4/14, let me tell you that was a really bad surgery. the band had eroded into my stomach and he literally had to sew my whole stomach back together again. Now i have to wait 3 months but i'm wondering if i should go ahead and get the sleeve in 3 months. i'm king of worried that this is like the gastric and i'll gain my weight back and i didn't gain any weight with the band that i had for 9 years. Any info that could help me figure out what to do?? I'm afraid of gaining my weight back.
