i'm a nurse in an office setting and I have told only my boss and a FEW people in my immediate department. I have no desire to tell others.

I decided long ago that is is MY journey and I really don't care to have any negative comments, opinions or other unnecessary talk about my personal life.

I am incredibly grateful for the coworkers I have told who have rallied their support around me and for my husband and parents and kids who are also SO supportive.

post op if I am specifically asked, I won't be untruthful, but I won't shout it from the rooftops either.

it's sad that many people either think this is the 'easy way out' or like my own secretary, who says of others who had WLS 'if they can diet your way through that pre-op diet, why can't they just stick with that diet and get thin"????

really????

I guess one of the biggest question is !!..... Why are people so concerned 1. So they think they need it done?? 2. Are they afraid we will look better then them??? 3. Do they have a family or friend that would benefit from weight lose surgery !! Let's face it almost everyone struggles with weight!!

I've told family and close friends but for work colleagues who I dont know as well, I just tell them I'm having surgery and will be out for a bit. One coworker asked me about the surgery because she is interested in it for herself. She asked me if she could ask questions about it and I said sure. If you share with someone, you could be an inspiration to them. For any who express doubts, I tell them I'm at risk for diabetes and I don't want to risk that illness and I'll be healthier. I dont really care if there are doubters, I don't generally ask for people's approval before other major decisions, much less for my health choices.

I am one of the few that told everyone at work. I've been there for 15 years and they are like family. I haven't had a single person say anything negative. I have stressed the fact that I was pre-diabetic (yes, I said was). Diabetes runs in my family and it was just a matter of time for me to get it. I am 9 months post-op and my blood sugars are in the middle of the "normal" range.

I guess it is completely each individuals choice about who to tell and not tell. But, I can say that I have had the opportunity to inspire someone else. That person approached me after the monthly support group meeting on Tuesday and thanked me. What a great feeling that was.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
