I have no insurance so we are paying $17,000 cash up-front. What are/were everyone else's costs? Did your doc let you make payments? Just curious!:cry

Mine cost 8,000 in Tijuana, MX. Haven't got there yet it will be next Tuesday, that includes the surgery, Inamed band, fills for life, transportation to the hospital from the airport, and back, 2 nights stay in a 5 star hotel, all pre-op evaluations, and one day and night in the hospital. Also, the surgeon is AWESOME, has been on Discovery Health Channel, and was the very first surgeon designated as a proctor surgeon, by Inamed. He has trained many US surgeons. He also wrote the book, "Lap Band for Life" and you can order it from Amazon.com.< /p>

Can you tell I'm a little excited????? LOL:biggrin1:

Donna

Oh, and they do have SEVERAL financing options!:clap2:

I am paying $17,250. Includes everything for 1 year.

$11,000 to the Hospital

$ 5,500 to the Doctor's Office

$ 750 to the Anesthesia's Office

There was information in the doctor's office for financing the LapBand procedure. If you like I can call and have them send you the brochure regarding that option.

wow, maybe i should have done some shopping before i picked vanderbilt. that's the way i do everything else, so i should have known. i've already put alot of money into this hospital in nashville, but if i can find somewhere close that is a huge difference i might switch surgeons....i haven't even met my surgeon anyway. anyone ever had dr. torquati? if i could save 7,000, i would SERIOUSLY consider switching.

I went to Vanderbilt too for the seminar but when I found out they hadn't done as many bands I went to Mexico to Dr. Sanchez because he'd done over 6000. My cost was 8500.00 for everything and fills for life. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I'm in Nashville every week.

Did those of you who had surgery in Mexico have any problems with after surgery care? I am deciding on a doctor after a long lost battle w/ my insurance. You said free fills for life. Do you have to fly back there to get them?

when you get "fills for life" from the Dr's in Mexico,,,who does the fills? do you have to go back to Mexico?

I have insurance so my out of pocket will be about 2300.00.

1700.00 for my 10% copay surgery is 17,200.00

750.00 or so for the nutritional councelor, that is not covered un der insurance

When the fills are covered under a package, you have to fly back to Mexico to receive them. For some people that live near the border it's very cost effective.

I have insurance as well, but it just so happens to have a rider saying that they WILL NOT cover any type of obesity surgery. So, I had to explore other options. If you opt to fly back to Mexico to get your fills, you can. If not, the surgeon will generally give you a list of fill doctors in your area, that do fills for MX patients.

It costs $110 for use of fluoro at Dr. Ortiz office. I can fly roundtrip for about $120. That means a fill would cost about $230 dollars. If you get a fill here in the U.S. after going to MX, it can cost as much as $1,000 for the first visit, and about $400 thereafter.

I was going to go with a local fill doctor, but after reading Dr. Ortiz book, I think I'll fly back there. Mexico has the leading surgeons for lap band surgery, and they do their fills differently there, than in the US.

Also, if you are really considering it, you can also check into www.fillcentersusa.com

Donna

Oh, and if you do go back to MX, your surgeon does the fill.

Hey, I have a cousin that is an RN at Vanderbilt. She also has the lap band. She went to Dr. Woodman in Memphis to get her's done. I lived in TN all my life, until I moved to IA 4 months ago!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
