Just had 1st fill, how soon until the next one?
I'm going to make a year with my band on 4/2 and I've only had one fill. At first I thought it was too much fill but i went home and sat with a gallon of Water patiently taking little sips and making sure i could get water down and I could. I just had to take baby sips with lots of patience to drink what i used to in just one gulp. I'm currently at 158 from 212 and my band has loosen up from all the weightloss and i dont have to take the baby sips i used to take in the beginning. feel free to message me with any questions

sex after surgery
Thats a totally normal question i asked that too. I was told there was no set time it was up to me. so i can say from experience i waited about 1 day after surgery, once i was released from dr ortiz's medical center and got back to the hotel. i just made sure to not put any pressure on my stomach. good luck on your banding journey!

How many CCs in your bands?
IRW- I'm assuming you have the VG band that holds 10cc. I have the 10cm band that holds 4cc. I haven't had a fill yet BUT I read in the Inamed handbook that the procedure for doing fill is that the first fill should be half of the maximum that the band holds then 2nd fill half of that, then 3rd fill half of the 2nd fill and so forth. So for me it would be first fill 2cc then 2nd fill 1cc, then 3rd fill .5cc I'm sure this varies greatly per person, hope this helps Goodluck!

My story! Also, feel free to critique post-op diet please.
hey sprint, i had surgery with dr.ortiz on april 2nd we missed eachother by two days. The entire experience was great basically how you mentioned. I remember the nutritionist saying if you can't drink it don't eat it for the first few weeks b/c if your stomach has to break something down it moves and affects the band healing in place. But if you feel ready i guess then do what works, i know i wouldn't dare at this point. I don't want to risk something not healing well and it costing me unecessary $$. Why dont you call her on monday and tell her about the cottage chesse and egg salad? Good Luck!

I don't want to tell people
I didn't tell anyone other than my boyfriend and best friend. And i'm very happy with that decision. My mom knew I was having it done, she just didn't know when, I told her after it was done so she wouldn't worry half to death since she isnt in very good health. I think it's wise to just keep it to yourself, except for telling the very close people in your life. But this is a very personal decision do whatever works for you. Good luck!

Another Newbie
that's great advice i'm one week out from surgery and so glad i made this decision. i had really annoying gas pain in my left shoulder. The heating pad i bought at walmart really helped, you might want to get one. Good Luck

3 days post op can't hold too much liquids without feeling stuffed
I just got back from Mexico today. I live in florida and i flew from san diego to las vegas to atlanta to tallahassee it was a very stressful long trip. My incisions are healing very well i have no appetite and i can drink very little at a time and this worries me that i can drink so little at a time and right away i feel pressure in my left shoulder. on the plane i tried to drink coffee to open my stoma up but i don't think it worked, i felt as stuffed as i do on thanksgiving after a few ounces of liquid (about 6-8ounces). i can hold such little liquid is this normal? I'm not complaining because due to this i have no apetite i just want to know what you guys think compared to what you felt 3 days after surgery. thanks

Being banded on 3/29 - questions!
syrah congrats on having everything go well. I'm being banded on monday heading to mexico today and the dying part has definitely crossed my mind. When i start to get nervous about it I tell myself that worrying isn't going to prevent something thats going to happen from happening so that helps me to keep from worrying to much.
