  1. I'm going to make a year with my band on 4/2 and I've only had one fill. At first I thought it was too much fill but i went home and sat with a gallon of Water patiently taking little sips and making sure i could get water down and I could. I just had to take baby sips with lots of patience to drink what i used to in just one gulp. I'm currently at 158 from 212 and my band has loosen up from all the weightloss and i dont have to take the baby sips i used to take in the beginning. feel free to message me with any questions
  2. I had an appointment today 5/19 at 2pm for a fill in Moultrie, GA with fillcentersusa and it was a great experience the nurse practioner was very knowledgable her name is darlene zebley. I drive about an hour from tallahassee, fl. and received 2cc fill and so far so good.

    sex after surgery

Thats a totally normal question i asked that too. I was told there was no set time it was up to me. so i can say from experience i waited about 1 day after surgery, once i was released from dr ortiz's medical center and got back to the hotel. i just made sure to not put any pressure on my stomach. good luck on your banding journey!

How many CCs in your bands?

IRW- I'm assuming you have the VG band that holds 10cc. I have the 10cm band that holds 4cc. I haven't had a fill yet BUT I read in the Inamed handbook that the procedure for doing fill is that the first fill should be half of the maximum that the band holds then 2nd fill half of that, then 3rd fill half of the 2nd fill and so forth. So for me it would be first fill 2cc then 2nd fill 1cc, then 3rd fill .5cc I'm sure this varies greatly per person, hope this helps Goodluck!

    For Long-Time Banders

bump up! great post anyone else want to share their experience
  9. hey sprint, i had surgery with dr.ortiz on april 2nd we missed eachother by two days. The entire experience was great basically how you mentioned. I remember the nutritionist saying if you can't drink it don't eat it for the first few weeks b/c if your stomach has to break something down it moves and affects the band healing in place. But if you feel ready i guess then do what works, i know i wouldn't dare at this point. I don't want to risk something not healing well and it costing me unecessary $$. Why dont you call her on monday and tell her about the cottage chesse and egg salad? Good Luck!

I don't want to tell people

I didn't tell anyone other than my boyfriend and best friend. And i'm very happy with that decision. My mom knew I was having it done, she just didn't know when, I told her after it was done so she wouldn't worry half to death since she isnt in very good health. I think it's wise to just keep it to yourself, except for telling the very close people in your life. But this is a very personal decision do whatever works for you. Good luck!

    Another Newbie

that's great advice i'm one week out from surgery and so glad i made this decision. i had really annoying gas pain in my left shoulder. The heating pad i bought at walmart really helped, you might want to get one. Good Luck
  12. thanks for the advice guys! i can only take in about 4-8oz max and this alarmed me at first since i'm used to eating way more than that but now its day 6 & as i see and the pounds coming off and i'm seeing this as not such a bad thing, i guess it all takes some getting used to thanks for the support. My stomach does feel sore is this normal?
  13. I just got back from Mexico today. I live in florida and i flew from san diego to las vegas to atlanta to tallahassee it was a very stressful long trip. My incisions are healing very well i have no appetite and i can drink very little at a time and this worries me that i can drink so little at a time and right away i feel pressure in my left shoulder. on the plane i tried to drink coffee to open my stoma up but i don't think it worked, i felt as stuffed as i do on thanksgiving after a few ounces of liquid (about 6-8ounces). i can hold such little liquid is this normal? I'm not complaining because due to this i have no apetite i just want to know what you guys think compared to what you felt 3 days after surgery. thanks
  14. syrah congrats on having everything go well. I'm being banded on monday heading to mexico today and the dying part has definitely crossed my mind. When i start to get nervous about it I tell myself that worrying isn't going to prevent something thats going to happen from happening so that helps me to keep from worrying to much.

    No back fat

wow i go through my workout shorts too, they wear out in the middle. its like there's fire between my thighs. My breast are small so sometimes if i wear a sports bra the lump in my back is the same size as the lump in the front lol its horrible. I can't wait for the day when this is no longer a problem edie congrats on reaching goal!
  17. hey donna i'm very excited too! My surgery with Dr. Ortiz is this coming monday so maybe i'll run into you in MX. Courtney--I also paid 8,500. A lot of people go to Mexico if they are self pay I had a hard time choosing between dr. kuri and dr. ortiz they're both awesome doctors

    Undecided

gayle that was awesome advice, congratulations on your success!!! I'm being banded on monday april 2nd thanks for your words of encouragement
  19. yea if your bmi is higher than 30, i believe, he'll preform surgery. Dr. Ortiz's website is www.obesitycontrolcenter.com you can request some info. I'm having surgery this coming monday, once i'm back i'll let know how my experience went. I'm sure it'll go smoothly i've heard a lot of great things. I'm self pay so paying 8500 was way better than the 15000+ it costs in the U.S.
  20. My bmi was too low to get surgery (with dr. kuri) and i allowed myself to gain about 15 pounds and it took a while to gain the weight but it happened and now i regret it because i found Dr. Ortiz in Mexico who would have done surgery on me at my weight of about 193 now i'm 208, my bmi is still not high enough to have surgery with kuri so i'm having surgery with dr. ortiz. I don't know how you feel about having surgery in Mexico but thats one option for you. Good Luck!

I think My Surgeon Just Fired Me...

WOW i am so sorry to hear about this lack of care you are experiencing, there are 2 doctors i have seen in this forum (Dr. C is one of them) try asking them what you should do. They should be able to point you in the right direction. From what i know your medical records should be available to you upon your written request all they can do is charge you for the copies, is that just here in florida? Whats the name of your band surgery doctor? its good that his name is mentioned on here so that people know what to expect if they go to him...
  23. I have a runny nose and a nasty cough... I'm hoping that it is gone in about a week. What should I do? will it be ok to have surgery with a little bit of a cough and a runny nose?
  24. yea theraflu has been helping me to feel better but this cold is holding on to me for dear life. iluvharleys--thanks for the suggestion but when I went to go buy some airborne i was told that your supposed to take it before the cold hit, what do u think? they moved my surgery up from march 26 to april 2 to give me time to get better...
