Ah, a very popular question. Most say it depends totally on how you feel. You'll want to take it easy, and maybe have to use some pillows to support you. You may also have to switch up your positions.

I too had the same question, just to embarrassed to ask. I loved the response about "wait till you at least leave the parking garage. I waited 5 or 6 days and didn't have any problems.

Eclipse

I like NotSoBigGuy's answer.....wooooohoooo!

I have a question about the reference to "Port Side"? Is your port not in the middle on your rigcage?

Some people have it in the side, some people have it in the middle. My doctor said he will place it in the middle, because as I lose weight it will not protrude as much.

Hey everyone it has been a while since I last posted any thing but lately I have been very busy. I just wanted to take the time to let everyone know how informative this board is. I have had so many questions answered for me at times when I was very confused or unsure which surgery to choose. You guys really provided me with alot of good information I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their kindness and support. Enough of the mushy stuff time for the good stuff. I GOT APPROVED FOR MY SURGERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED :clap2: . I really look foward to getting on board and sharing in some of the experiences of being banded(good ones I hope) At first I thought I couldn't do it with the band because I weigh 370lbs. but I decided to stop worrying and put it in God's hands. If anyone has any advice or words of encouragement feel free to send me a message.Thxs LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :)

Thats a totally normal question i asked that too. I was told there was no set time it was up to me. so i can say from experience i waited about 1 day after surgery, once i was released from dr ortiz's medical center and got back to the hotel. i just made sure to not put any pressure on my stomach.

good luck on your banding journey!

Dr. Fielding brought this subject up first and it was even printed in his post op / release paperwork he told us that it is all up to how we feel and that most people engage in sexual activities within a week. The response of wait at least until you leave the parking lot was hilarious and I have to be honest I was released the day after I was banded and had sex that same day. Like others said you just have to watch your incisions and your port site and maybe have to switch up your positions. Good luck your first attempt will be interesting.
