my butt bone HURTS! (tailbone pain post weight loss)

Recommended Posts

So, Just wondering if any of you might be having the same issue. Since I am now down 109.5 lbs (from 255 to 145.5) since May 8th, 2013 I am having a really really hard time sitting. At all. any time I sit, no matter where it is my tailbone hurts so bad. I can sit threw dinner, but thats about as long as I can stand to sit. Even sitting in bed hurts so bad. We went to a movie Friday and I nearly cried when I stood up because it hurt that bad.

Anyone else, any tips? My mom said when she was really thin she had this problem too, and she just took a pillow everywhere with her to sit on... but even that hurts! Please tell me this will get better!

BTW here are my stats:

Pre-OP- 255lbs size 18-22

surgery May 8th

Currently 145.5 lbs and in a loose size 8

Goal: 135

Mine too..........When I left the hospital I had lost all my muscle mass. So I had nothing left to sit on. On top of that I have a sore on .y tailbone as a result of the coma I was in. So now after over a year I have a trainer helping me build myself back up from the core...Glutes.....I need glutes! lol

My wife and I were discussing this very topic last night!

I am 9 mos. out (109 lbs. down, at goal weight), she is 7 mos. (76 lbs. down, at goal in my opinion...although she still wants to lose more!)...and we both have no cushion left on our derrieres! In perusing various websites, it looks like the only fix is to do more squats...or get butt cushion implants!

Me too. Size 10 and the butt bones are starting to hurt. When I was a size 8 10 yrs ago I didn't have it, so I think it is loss of muscle, although I never had much junk in the trunk to start with. More exercise that focuses on glutes would be the ticket, I suspect.

I've seen some vets say that it gets better a year or so out. Your body learns to redistribute some fat, or the nerves aren't as sensitive, something like that. I hope so, I get tailbone pain too! And I used to love to read in bed, lying on my tummy, propped up on my elbows. But now if I do that for more than about 15 minutes my ribcage starts to ache. Last year at this time I didn't even know I had a ribcage!

I feel your pain – literually!
I just got 2 coccyx cushions because I was messing up my back and hip more by leaning on either side to not sit straight on it.
It helps that little cutout and gap between my tailbone and the seat is so much better.
I got 2 because the first one I got pretty much flattens so hoping the second one that’s coming is a much higher density foam to not squash as much.
My physio also told me it was a good idea as it also tilts my hips to sit right while taking the pressue off your tailbone.

oh btw i was padding my butt with cottonwool just to have some padding but that was getting silly with a massive wad back there lol

Yup! A year out and definitely have tail bone pain. For work I have a gel cushion that has a cut out so my tailbone isn't actually touching it. And I am working on building up some muscle in the hopes it will help (and so aesthetically my butt isn't quite so flat ;) )

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
