Claire,

Thanks for the reply! I talked with my doctors office today and they said I can have chicken cooked crock pot style so that when I chew it, it turns to mush. They also suggested cooking up chicken and making it into chicken salad using Greek yogurt! I can have raviolis as well, just not a lot or often, so I'm happy :) I also found out that we can have toast, tortillas or saltines during this stage just as long as they are covered in liquid that can make them mushy :) I am going to pick up some hummus tomorrow!

Hi,

Erin, that sounds absolutely wonderful, and Size 14, WOW! It sounds like your weight loss has been great, but I know we all want more. Yes I have hard lumps under my op sites and occasionally one pulls a bit. Also if I am a bit hunched over, like while using the computer, the area can ache and pull a bit. We would all love you to post a photo.

Welcome to Healthybran and it sounds like you are doing so well Delillieflower.

FAB, that sounds so exciting, eating new and non mushy foods sounds great. I can start to have crackers/crispbreads next Tues because I will be 4 weeks post op. So I can also have anything a work goes through so non pureed potato, minced beef, hummous, guacamole etc. That is so exciting! Though I will have to step up the pureed things before then because I have trouble coping with them. I presume that is the stage before, but maybe I just have a problem finding them appetising, so maybe it will all slot into place next Tues which is a great day to look forward to. Only a week to go!

Right now for my weights:

HW 425

SW (pre op assessment 1 week before 11th Feb surgery date) 379

CW 350 and a half.

So 28 and a half pounds in 4 weeks from pre op assessment, 3 weeks since surgery.

Take care all of you

Claire

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to check in. I am a little over 3wks out and starting by puréed foods. It's interesting to read the difference of how everyone's doctors have been doing their recovery diets. Some are way advanced from mine... Anyways I am looking for more puréed food ideas. I have been doing eggs with cheese (12g Protein for 1/4 cup of food!), Beans with cheese, tofu, carrots and Popsicles but that about it. I looked on Pinterest and found a lot of great ideas but not so much for this stage, mainly after. I am a really picky eater and I'm trying to out grow that but it's more a mind block now... Help!!!

Thanks! :)

Check out 'The World According to Eggface' for great ideas for all stages. Amazing Protein Shake recipes! :-)

Been stalled at 29 lbs for a week and today gained 1-1/2 lbs. what's up with that?

I was hoping to hit 30 lbs by my 4th week but it's not likely. Bummer!!!

tkauhi the exact same thing happened to me in week 3. It's so frustrating, but just think of it as your body catching up to all the amazing weight you've already lost. And there's no way you actually gained a pound, just Water. :-)

FAB, that is so great you can try all those things! I'm jealous.

Claire I hope you can successfully start to add more soft foods to your diet!

Hi everyone and welcome new comers. I hope everyone is doing wonderful and is progressing well.

I had a question. Does anyone else have a problem with being cold? Before surgery I was ALWAYS hot. Everyone would freeze around me cause I had to stay cool or I would Haze trouble breathing or get sick. Now it seems like I'm constantly cold. I hate socks but I've been wearing them nonstop due to my feet freezing all the time.

Thought I would share my numbers as well since a few of you have.

Highest weight; 406

Surgery day; 356

Current weight; (3 weeks post op) 338

Zom, I'm the same way with being cold. I wear pj's to bed and sometimes socks, never did that before. I believe it's due to fat burning. At least that is what my husband says. Every time he diets and goes without much food, he freezes too. So freeze away and let that fat burn off!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
