I really don't think BMI has anything to do with it. Mine was only 40. The rationale for liver reduction is to detox liver b/c evidence shows that detoxing liver decreases risks for all complications. I never heard of this.

I was sleeved on Tuesday the 4th and feeling pretty ok, aside from needing to practice how to sip without swallowing alot of air. Any tips on how to achieve this, because the gas pains are a killer.

I know from researching other programs that every program is different in terms of requirements and it's basically the Dr. preference.. For my program they have two separate pre op diets. BMI 39 and under = 3 day. BMI 40 or above does a 2 week diet. Nothing to eat or drink after 12 the night before surgery for both. I went through a center of excellence.

Sleeved on 2/4 and feeling really good. I have a hematoma above my large incision causing pain but otherwise good.No nausea or vomiting, sipping well. I am not hungry at all! I've been staying with my parents the last few days and they've been eating hoagies cheesesteaks, donoughts, etc and I'm not even interested. I haven't had a bowl movement but am passing gas. I'm down 16 lbs since I started my 3 day pre-diet on 2/1. I'm 5'9' starting weight was 252. This week is Clear liquids for me , so I've been drinking Propel, Water, tea with honey, Jello, and broth. I'm drinking The Original Protein XL shot 28 grams. It's really good. Next week will be full liquids like pudding, yogurt, Protein shakes, etc. I'm really excited!

Hey Julie.. I had a two night hospital stay (standard for my surgeon) but I left hospital able to have full liquids b/c I was tolerating clears. I have not lost one lb. I am 5'5 and went in at 240..... still 240 and I am bummed. What is this Original Protein XL shot you speak of? I am an advisor for a health and wellness company called Advocare and we sell Protein Shots and as an advisor I get a 40% discount so naturally I asked my surgeon's P.A if I could take the shots for added protein especially because it is low volume and packs a big punch and they did not seem too happy about that. They want me to get in my Proteins from food. I am going to ask again on Tuesday at my post op visit. How big is your hematoma? It may take a while for that to resorb but if that is your biggest complication that is a blessing :)

No surgery needed for my hematoma just have to watch it. I woke up today with minimum to no pain.

Belladonna, I found it through a few forums. They sell it at Walgreen. Eventually Protein will be through food intake but during first two weeks I'm drinking these. 28 grams of protein. Also has potassium and magnesium and a few other nutrients. It's clear amd Im tolerating them well and getting my requirements in. 234 today!

I was sleeved on jan 29. I'm DYING for some real food too. I'm being told it's way dangerous to do it though.

My surgery was 1/30 and I feel like i am ready for something more than just drinking so I know the feeling. Even if its just mashed potatos or cottage cheese something that you can chew. And it is very dangerous to just start eating without our Doctors supervision I would hate to go back into surgery because is did my own thing. I see my doctor thursday so hoping for the next phase of the meal plans. one great thing is I am down 20 lbs since my pre-op diet and surgery :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
