So I've been on a carb binge it feels this weekend. I forgot to weigh in this morning, so I did after eating dinner.

Not sure if it's a realistic goal, but let's try!

Good luck everyone!!

This is awesome! I'm 179 today, also I started the gym this afternoon. I hope to be in the 160s by then, I'm only 3 weeks out and I've lost 15 pounds. Surgery was on 1/23/14 and starting weight was 194.6 :) so excited to see more results and the support really helps :)

Bea, I don't understand the technology behind all this Cloud stuff. My starting weight today is 189. My goal for six weeks is 180. What else am I supposed to do???????? I don't get it.

Miss Mac, no worries at all about not "getting this". This is actually a good excuse to explain things to the challenge newcomers.

  • All that is required on your part is to report in every Monday (or whatever day you pick...we're not really particular about that).
  • Part of the fun is watching the changes in a visual way, especially as you can look at other challengers and see how they are doing.
  • The "cloud" is just a web space that's available to others (like a web page is) to view. I have put an Excel spreadsheet of our progress in a "cloud" location that belongs to me.
  • There won't be much to see until week 2 of the challenge when the comparisons start. Other data points, like how many people are in the challenge, how much is being lost each week, the per person average of losses each week, etc. are all a part of the fun.
  • You'll know that I've updated your data to the spreadsheet when you see that I have "Liked" your update post.

I think that covers most of the points, but other veteran challengers are welcome to chime in as well. For me, it just seems that when I approach losing as a kind of "team sport", it makes it more fun. The big losses give us an opportunity to shout about it, the little losses give us support from friends who understand, and the ever unpopular "gains" let us know we are only human and our bodies are not always under our full control. What better way to experience all of these phases and the emotions that go with them than with a group of individuals who TOTALLY know how we feel!

Welcome to the challenge!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
