I am a single mother of 1, he is going to be 2 pretty soon :faint: and I am also hoping to get the lap band soon. Are there any other bandsters out there that got the band and has/had small children? How did it work for you? I do have family to help me but they work. Will I be able to still take care of him at home without any help?

I would go ahead and get someone to help the first day or two. After that you should be fine.

My DH took care of our three kids for the first two days and then he went back to work - it was fine. I was a little tired but what Mom hasn't sucked it up when they are tired?

Well my son (Reid, pronounced like read) is a big momma's boy and loves to be held, not all the time, but I guess i will have to explain to him that I cant hold him unless I am sitting down or whatever. He may only be two years old but he understands really well, I am actually very surprised on what I can tell him.

I have a 10 month old and a 9 year old I needed help for the first 6 days and I have started picking her up and I have been fine my mom had to stay at my house for those days to help me out (thank god for her). I am also single mother. It will work out that was one negative thought I had before doing this was my two girls? It will all be worth it and they say a couple of weeks but we are strong single moms it will work out. Good luck :clap2:

I didn't have much trouble and my little girl was barely two when I was banded. The bending over was troublesome, but with just a little help and a little slacking you should be up to full speed within a week or two.

Congrats on your upcoming bandsterhood!

i have a 1 year old and a 4 year old, my husband took a week off of work. but i still did a lot with the kids. I would say you need at least 3 days with a lot of help. up and down is not good. too painful. and with kids it's constant. i made all the meals and my huband changed the diapers, dressed them ect.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
