Help me please! I'm losing my hair

I've been experiencing a lot of hair loss. Can somebody please tell me what I need to do to stop this madness and how long does this last?

FYI: You must take at least 10,000 mcg of Biotin for it to even be effective. BTW: My MD said it is a problem first year post op... It will grow back.

Ok I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!

This is a common side effect of rapid weight loss. The hair loss starts around 8 - 12 weeks post surgery and continues for up to 9 months. While protein intake seems to help some, and biotin also helps, a lot of the hair loss is just dependent on your genetics and body type. I started taking 10,000 mcg of Biotin in week 8 when my hair loss became noticeable. My "shed rate" has started slowing over the past month, so I am hoping I'm through this phase. I knew going in to this surgery that hair loss was common. I decided I wanted a healthy body more than I wanted a full head of hair. My doctor assures me that it will grow back too!

Yeah that's when I started losing my hair but now it seems to be shedding more. I'm with u about having a healthy body. I can always buy me some hair. Lol

Ok ladies and Gents... Walmart Natrol brand Extra Strength Biotin 10,000 mcg 100 pills for 7.97! BAM! That is a 90 day supply.

I was also told at least 65g protein intake and Biotin, I hope this will help!

Started noticing my hair thinning around 7 months post op and after upping my protein, and taking the Biotin, I noticed it coming back in about six weeks ago..so as others have said, it takes a while. It's still not as thick as it used to be but at least you can't see scalp anymore. Hang in there...it will come back.

Not sure if anyone has ordered online but I have used them in the past not sure off all the vitamins I will need but let me know if this is a good bargain http://search.puritan.com/search?p=Q&lbc=puritan&uid=298167930&ts=custom&w=BIOTIN&isort=score&method=and&view=grid&af=categories:biotin&scid=28176

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I started Biotin already. Went thru menopause a couple of years ago and started loosing my hair with that, the Biotin definitely helped. My surgeon says Protein and Biotin are your best option to minimize loss. It does take a bit of time to start helping, that's why I'm starting now.

I bought my biotin at SAMs club...it's a quick dissolve tablet, cherry flavor, taste really good, my hair lost started at 6 weeks and stop around 22 weeks out. Good luck to you.

Biotin, Noxin shampoo, and I have even heard of people using Rogane. Of course Protein consumption is always important. Here is a link :)

I have been taking 3000 mcg sublingually . I will up it to 10000mcg. Thanks for the info

Maybe add an extra scoop of protein powder to your normal shake and get twice the protein without having to drink a whole other shake. I also take biotin 5000 mcg three times a day and they are the quick dissolve kind that tastes like strawberry. Very yummy. Idk if it's helping yet or not I'm six weeks now and I keep noticing several strands a day on my shoulders and arms. Hate it cause my hair got super thin where u could see the scalp years ago when I my husband was in Iraq and I was going to school getting my degree and raising two babies alone. I was under a ton if stress and it really really got bad. It never got back to what I had before. I started using the powder called topik that I get at Sally's and it really helps to hide it. Good luck I know how deviating it is I'm hoping its nothing like back then.

Nothing much you can do but ride it out woman. I took Biotin everyday for 5 months and got 80-105 grams of Protein and I still lost my hair. I started losing at about 2 1/2 months and now at 5 1/2 months it's slowing way down I also use a Product called Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. Not sure if this has helped but I'm now down to losing half as much as I was. I hate it. I'm not vain but sheesh I kinda like my hair.

Hi There! Can you tell me where you purchase the biotin that dissolves under your tongue? The ones I currently have are horse pills. Thanks in advance.

Hi Belladonna, I get them at the local health food store. The store is called family nutrition but I'm sure you could get them at other health food stores. I found them on amazon too, here's a link :)
