if the scale doesnt move by monday...

Recommended Posts

If this stall isn't over by Monday I'm considering going back to liquids only for a few weeks..I've been the same weight since Jan 7th..(the day I started soft foods)..I'm working my but off in the gym..and I'm really getting discouraged ..:-(

I got really obsessed with daily weighing. I wanted to see the scale move...so I put it up on the shelf and decided to weigh only on Sundays.

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY you can reach a new personal best :D

They weren't joking when they said this is 90% in our minds. I'm only 11 days out and I'm so impatient to have lost everything. Right away. Most of the vets would probably say "stalls happen" and to cycle your calories or the like.

I went thru a stall for 10 days between Weeks 3 and 4 - it sucked. I was not mentally prepared for it, though I knew it was coming. I weighed every day in the beginning. I loved to see the number drop every single day, then, like a punch in the gut, it stopped. What the hell????? Why is this happening to me. My "old" brain said, "You have to restrict more" because that's what I did for years.

Here's the thing - your body is trying to figure out what you just did to it. There's a lot going on inside your body right now. If you look at it logically, there's no way you're not losing weight - you aren't consuming enough calories to stay level or gain. You just had major surgery - that has an impact on what's going on as well.

My suggestion for you - hide the scale for a week or two, then bring it out once per week. You will be surprised how freeing it is (my husband did this for me and I am so appreciative). Follow the plan provided by your NUT or doctor - they know best. Be kind to yourself.

Best of luck!

this happened to me as soon as i started soft foods as well. just like mcbutterpants. i was stalled for more than 3 weeks. then i just went to the dr last thurs and BAM i was down another 13lbs. your body just needs time to catch up. its in shock right now. dont sweat it, you will start losing again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
