Low starting weight

Recommended Posts

Anybody out there start under 200 before going from band to sleeve? How much weight have you lost?

I'm 5'2' and currently weigh 185. My lowest with the band was 142. I gained weight during my last pregnancy and loosened band and haven't lost it. I haven't had any "major" problems with the band but I refuse to throw up anymore which is something I did several times a day when my band is filled. My insurance is going to cover the revision after a 6 month diet. My surgery date is 7/24/14. I just want to here from others that started with "lower" weights and had success.

I was 210 when I had surgery. I lost 18 pounds the first month, and I plan to be weighed again this coming Friday. (I refuse to buy a scale!) It is currently week #5 for me, and will be my 3rd weigh in at the center. In terms of success beyond weight loss, my Type I diabetes has improved tremendously! The surgery has lowered an inflammatory response my body had, and I am hopeful this means no more autoimmune conditions. (Half a dozen has been more than enough!) Looking forward to more success! Good luck to you! So glad your insurance is covering surgery #2! :)

Hi there,

I was banded August 17, 2012 & lost about 90 pounds with it. I wound up with a partially slipped band 3 or 4 times last year. As a result of severe pain in Dec., we decided to have it removed & replaced with the gastric sleeve on Jan 16th (last week). My insurance will more than likely NOT cover the sleeve & so I've been told it could run me $15K with everything. With my hubby being unemployed for 7 months now, we won't be able to pay more than $50 a month & that's stretching it. But, that's OK.

My pre-sleeve weight was 156 & my current weight is around 147 right now. I suspect that my weight will go down as I go through this new, and stricter food plan. It's an adjustment to say the least, but I'm staying focused & positive that it will all work out.

Good luck through your journey. Keep us posted. I would love to "talk" to others in my same position.

I started at 200 lbs, 4'10" I am 6 months post op and have lost 51 pounds. Doctor said I could lose up to 80 pounds with the sleeve, I said I would be happy if I could lose 50 and keep it off. The weight has slowed significantly now at the 6 month mark but it still comes off slowly.

I had my revision at 174 6 mths ago (bmi 28). I knew I couldn't lose the last 40 lbs without another tool. While I've only lost down to 153 (18 lbs from goal), I'm not really trying but maintaining failry easily. I know if I buckled down (thinking about going with Protein shakes and liquids only for a couple weeks to start things going again) I could get the rest off.

So, yes, I was under 200 lbs. Oh, and I've thrown up twice in the last 6 mths (totally my fault for eating too much) vs almost daily with the band.

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
