Day 6 post surgery

Recommended Posts

Gruiz,

It's normal to be scared. It's the unknown that frightens me so educate yourself as much as u can. We're here for u. Stock up on liquids and get your pain meds filled before surgery shoo u have them art discharge.

How's your journey going?

I agree, the 'not knowing' is the scariest. The support from this group has eased most of my concerns. My surgery was 1/14. What I did not know before that I do now is that the swelling sticks around for awhile. My stomach, inside and out, is still very swollen. Loading up on the fluids is a great piece of advice. The sip, sip, sipping helps a great deal with the pain as well as moving, walking to get all of the excess gas out from surgery. I agree with the importance of having the pain meds before surgery so they are available for you after release from the hospital. sugar free Popsicles have become my best friend; taste good, feel good and help a lot with when you feel hungry. I thank God for this line of communication because the questions keep coming everyday, and they will for you too. These wonderful people have answered my questions and eased my concerns about a lot of things because they have been through it and are going through it. It's wonderful to be able to talk with others that are going thru the same thing. Good luck to you, you'll be in my prayers. Keep in touch, I would love to continue to have a buddy through this.

My journey has been good for the most part. I have the add fun of fibromyalgia which created more pain operatively then the surgery. I'm not losing as many pounds as I would like as quickly as I would like but I'm looking for other landmarks like retiring my first pair of pants and a jacket. Also I can wear my wedding/engagement ring for the first time in years. Look for the little victories.

Sounds tough. But good.

And that's sweet u can wear your rings.

My small victory would be for my size 20 jeans to fit perfect. And not so tight.

The journey for me has been ok, better now that I have more answers from this forum. Lol. I was scared because my belly is still so big, no loss that I know of but I haven't bought a scale yet. Turns out that swelling is very common for, sometimes, the first month. The pain has been bad, on and off. That part appears to be different for each individual. But I keep doing stuff (physically) that I shouldn't ( vacuuming, bending and lifting too much) so I believe my stubbornness is hurting me. I'm excited to see the first pounds come off, trying to be patient. I'm also trying to follow doctor instructions to a tee, but with the sipping, it is difficult to get all the Protein in daily along with the ounces of Fluid. I do better with the hydrating than I do with the protein because I feel full and don't want to push it. All in all, pretty good but I see no results yet but it's hard to remember that tomorrow will only be 14 days.

My jorney update: Day 6 post-op. I can identify with feelings of swollen belly, doing things around house I probably shouldn't, and size 20's. I have only weighed once since surgery and have lost 5 lbs. Used to take me a month to lose that on Weight Watchers. Kudos to great minds who think alike on our decision to get healthy and feel/look better!! Getting in 2 shakes a day. Lots of other clear fluids. My nurse yesterday said just stay hydrated. Hang in there, fellow friends & sleevers. Spring will be here before we know it! :) hugs!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
