Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

I thought I'd move us over to this side where we can share stories, weight loss, concerns and just be generally supportive! So, I'm 4 days post-op and feeling really good. I was really sick post-op days 1&2 due to intestinal swelling and barium sitting in my pouch (relatively uncommon complication) but once I finally got rid the barium, things changed dramatically. Very little pain. I can lay flat on my side with a flat pillow supporting my stomach. Went for a 20 minute slow walk with my 6-year old today. No problem with protein shakes or broth. No nausea at all. I know many of our pre-oppers are nervous about life post-op so I wanted to encourage you! How's everyone else feeling?

has anyone gotten sick since their surgery? I have bronchitis and the couch medicine that the doctor prescribed made me dump. So I get no relief from coughing. I am so miserable.

Have you tried allergy medicine?

I haven't had dumping issues with any meds. But one normal dose of night time cold and cough medicine got me drunk. That was a first for me. They do make diabetic friendly (sugar free) adult cough medicine.

no, but it wont help because I have drainage in my chest.

I have now learned that I should take half a dose and wait 30 minutes to take the other half. The sugar content is crazy. Next time I will ask for sugar free.

I haven't been on here in a while. But I am doing great. I have lost about 73 pounds and have about 75 to 80 ponds to go. I have had 3 scopes (egj) and dilations. I feel like I am not losing fast enough. I see the doctor in July for my 6 month check up. Overall, I am so happy I did the gastric bypass. I had my g tube removed in May I was so happy to finally get that thing out. I had it for 4 months. I didn't think I would ever get it out! I am drinking premier protein shakes, I get them at SAMs club. They have 30g protein in 1 shake and I like them so I will stick to them. I use a lot of recipes from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and bariatricfoodie.com. My new favorite recipe from eggface is coconut cream pie oatmeal! It is delicious. I highly recommend these 2 website for recipes high in protein and low calories. You will love them if you haven't tried them yet! I still have trouble getting 64ounces of water in a day. But work everyday to meet my goals.

That's great Vicki. I am a slow loser as well. Keep up the great work. We all know how much effort it takes.

Great job Vicki! Now off I go to check out the egg face website

Hi all

1/27/14

Physically doing good. Is anyone having issues with depression? I'm bipolar. Have been all my life. I was on meds prior to surgery and doing okay. I'm still on my meds. I feel like the bipolar is still under control but the depression has gotten pretty bad. My shrink retired in May. I got upset with my therapist right before surgery and hadn't gone back. I started to realize the signs. I saw the wls therapist. She wanted me to start going to support groups. Appt with a new shrink to go over my meds, maybe adjust dosage due to weightloss but not until October. Appt with therapist next week.

Trying to figu

Oops

Pushed send by accident.

Anyways, trying to figure out if I'm as alone as I feel.

Did you have WLS to get pregnant. Was your periods irregular before?

congrats on the pregnancy! I cant believe its been over 8 months since my wls. I havent lost any weight in the last month and a half. I would like to loose 30 more pounds, but my hunger levels have returned, and im stuggling to keep from gaining. I feel much better, but have to accept the fact, that i must be diligent to stay on top of this!

My periods were regular prior to having WLS, but loosing the weight did help conceive. It took 2 months to find out that we were expecting. I had wls to just get healthy.
