    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

I haven't been on here in a while. But I am doing great. I have lost about 73 pounds and have about 75 to 80 ponds to go. I have had 3 scopes (egj) and dilations. I feel like I am not losing fast enough. I see the doctor in July for my 6 month check up. Overall, I am so happy I did the gastric bypass. I had my g tube removed in May I was so happy to finally get that thing out. I had it for 4 months. I didn't think I would ever get it out! I am drinking premier protein shakes, I get them at SAMs club. They have 30g protein in 1 shake and I like them so I will stick to them. I use a lot of recipes from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and bariatricfoodie.com. My new favorite recipe from eggface is coconut cream pie oatmeal! It is delicious. I highly recommend these 2 website for recipes high in protein and low calories. You will love them if you haven't tried them yet! I still have trouble getting 64ounces of water in a day. But work everyday to meet my goals.

went to the doctor today and since I have been throwing up so much, I will be having an endoscopy. . didn't even bring up the fact that I haven't lost anything for a week or two. but with all the throwing up, you would think I would be losing weight. well she thinks I may have a stricture. so I go Tuesday for the endoscopy. I pretty much cannot keep anything down except water. other than that I am doing great post operatively.

    Stall

I am 8 weeks out and have lost 40 something pounds, but no weight loss in last week or two. I am frustrated because I had a gastric bypass to lose weight and have been eating the right foods. I am not even on regular foods yet, still on soft stage.

    surgery and employment

You should win. if you couldn't work because u were sick that's not something you can control. I got unemployment approved for similar circumstances. I had to appeal it too because it was denied the first try.

I have to keep my g tube at least until march 13. I do my blood work a week before and hopefully I can have it removed on March 13. My doc will determine whether or not I can get it out by my blood work. I'm so ready to have it out. Yesterday I had to get it restitched in place because the stitch came out and now it really hurts. My stomach hurts too. I thought I was done with my pain meds weeks ago but I have had to take them again for the last 2 days. I am calling the doc tomorrow.

I had rny on January 15. I still have a g tube. Tonight I am in a lot of pain in my belly in the middle right below my bra. Last time this happened I got put back in the hospital with mild pancreatitis. I hope it's not that. I just hope I feel better by tomorrow or I will probably have to go to the er and find out what's going on.

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

So I went to the doctor yesterday, tomorrow I will be 4 weeks out, and I have lost about 34 pounds. I am so excited to start eating soft foods on Thursday. I am totally addicted to the websites www.bariatricfoodie.com and www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. They are people who have had wls and have many, many recipes on their sites, I just keep going back to both sites and looking at recipes. It makes me want to eat healthy!! I already have a grocery list of things to buy to make some of the recipes on the sites. I learned about these websites from people on here, so thank you!
  10. Now, I can't wait to eat a sandwich!!!

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. Hopefully you can get to the doctor and or therapist and they can help you. When I feel down I watch funny stuff on youtube or watch Americas funniest videos for a good laugh. Being on bariatric pal also helps me with feeling down and get support from others who've had wls as well. Hope you feel better soon!
  13. So Glad you found your ring, now get it sized before you lose it again!

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

hello everyone! Thanks for all the suggestions for pureed foods! Today I am very sore and have a headache. I had the open surgery RNY so maybe that's why it is taking so long to feel really good. I am 3 1/2 weeks out. I have a g tube in, which is really sore around the hole it comes out of, and I will call the doctor tomorrow about it. Hopefully, if I see the doctor tomorrow I can weigh and see how much I have lost. my scales at home are a few pounds different from the doctor's. I felt bad when I woke up this morning, so I went back to bed and got up at 1pm! My daughter took me to sams club and man it took everything I had to keep up with her. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. But, on a good note, I am getting all my protein in. Still not doing very good with my water/fluids intake. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get in 64 oz of water/fluids? I can use my g tube to put in liquids, but I forget to put them in it and by the end of the day its too late. I am putting crystal light in my water so that helps.

Are you on pureed foods? I was just wondering. I haven't even attempted to go out to a restruant. I am scared to. But that sounds so good! I hope you feel better tomorrow!

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

3 weeks post op and I am feeling good! I am on pureed foods now and sometimes I don't know what to eat. I also sometimes feel hungry. Like last night when I went to bed, I felt hungry. I thought we weren't supposed to feel hungry anymore after the surgery. It was not head hunger, it was real hunger, my stomach was growling hunger. but, I just finished my shake and went to bed. I am getting all of my protein, which is 75g/day. I drink 2 shakes, have a snack of cottage cheese and eat some pureed beans or soup. What are some other foods I can eat, does anyone know? (pureed stage) I will be on pureed foods for another week then go to soft foods and I cannot wait! I am so bored with pureed already and I have only been on pureed for a week. Also, I am so ready to get my g tube removed, but it looks like I will have it atleast 8 weeks, since that is when my next appointment is. I went to mybariatricpantry.com and unjury.com and stocked up on protein powder and foods and I don't like any of them. I was drinking the bariatric advantage shakes and now, since I had surgery they make me gag. They get thick after time, because we all know we cant drink them really fast, it takes time to drink and they make me gag after they thicken. Ooh, so gross! So now I am drinking the premier protein shakes from sam's club. They are much better! So, what is everyone else eating on their "pureed stage" diet??

    Post op protein.

my surgeon allows decaf coffee and decaf tea and no caffeine, carbonation, or straws! I love straws! But I quit using straws about 3 months before surgery.

    Post op protein.

I used Bariatric Advantage Protein shakes before surgery mixed with milk, which is 35g protein. But since my surgery these shakes make me gag and get thick over time and I cannot stand them now. I didn't have this problem before surgery. I went to sam's club and got the Premier Protein ready to drink (just chill 1st) shakes. I like both chocolate and vanilla and they are not making me gag, they just have to be really cold. my protein goal is 75. So I have been drinking 2 shakes daily and either putting protein in Water and putting it in my g tube or getting the last 15g protein from the pureed foods I have been eating. I bought the nectar drink mixes online and they make me gag too. I will have my g tube atleast for 8 weeks so I kind of get to cheat, because I can put shakes and water in it to reach my daily goal.

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Got out of the hospital Tuesday. Feel so much better. I'm now on pureed foods. I'm having trouble getting in 64 ounces of liquids everyday on top of 75g protein. I am to the point the bariatric advantage shakes are now making me gag and I can't tolerate them. I went to sams club and got the premier protein shakes and I can drink those without gagging. I have a g tube and I can put shakes water and meds in it so that helps. Right now I'm taking liquid meds and those make me gag too so I've been putting them thru my g tube. I will have the g tube until at least 8 weeks post op. I had an open rny and I'm surprised that I didn't have much pain with it. I mean the 1st 3 or 4 days was bad but I didn't take pain meds after 5 days post op. I was down 23 pounds at the Dr office yesterday but could be more they said because I was in the hospital and had a lot of iv fluids. I had pancreatitis and a uti but am so much better. Doing good now just working on getting in all my proteins and fluids.

Well its been 8 days since my surgery-open rny. Its been hard to get all the proteins in, even though I have the g tube to use. Today I didn't have a whole lot of pain and did not use my pain meds. It took until today to have a bm and I had to use Colace and miralax to finally go. I have a home health nurse that will come once a week to help me with my g tube and take vitals. My husband goes back to work next Tuesday and I am not looking forward to being alone. I'm on the liquid diet for another week. I am looking forward to changing to the next food stage.

I got to go home today after 4 nights in the hospital. I do have to say it is rough. I have pain meds though. I have been sleeping a lot and have only eaten once since being home, and I had to force myself to eat. I had no complications except that I kept having to get new iv's because they kept blowing. My doctor finally just changed my meds to oral. I had a lot of itching from the meds and they gave me Benadryl. Since I have been home I haven't had any itching. I'm glad to be home overall and ready to start losing the weight!
