So I have been trying to conceive for over 18 months now. I do have one child who is four. After the birth of my daughter I had implanon implant placed in my arm. Had it for the full 3 years they say its good for. And started ttc after it was removed. Have had no such luck whatsoever and was recently diagnosed with pcos and put on metformin and spironolactone to deal with hormonal imbalance . I guess im just looking to see if anyone was in my situation and found that after surgery they were able to conceive naturally with out medication. Oh, and I have also done like 5 rounds of clomid with no luck. I guess im just looking for the little light at the end of this dark depressing tunnel.

Hi LagueritaChula.....

Your story is similar to mine, I been trying for 18

Months..and nothing, I also did 2 rounds of clomid, I dont any kids, either my husband, and I'm preop right now, my surgery is Jan 13, 2014

I was dianosed with pcos when i was 19, and then i was on birth control for 10 yrs, now im 31, almost 32 in march...and wanting to have a little baby so bad, I'm planning on waiting at least 6 months before I start ttc again, so Jun/Jul ...

of course all depends on how much im eating by then, and how much I lost....my husband is 43...

When is your surgery?

How long after are you planning to start ttc?

Linda- thankyou.

MJM- I dont have a surgery date yet im in process of completing a couple classes and should have a surgery date of late february or early march. I am like you and plan to start trying to conceive 6 months postop. I know they say not to but so many people have and been completly fine. I just hope it happens for us. My daughter asks me all the time for a brother or sister and even says mommy ill help you take care of it and it just breaks my heart that ive been trying and not been able to. I cry myself to sleep sometimes and I try not to fall into a depression by being grateful for the child I do have. But there is always an empty place for another baby. I hope this surgery helps us both. :)

Hi ladies first I want to say prayers and best wishes to you both. I had vsg about 6 mos ago the best decision I ever made, my highest 397 now 83 lbs lighter yay I'm so much better. It was something I had to do for myself and for my future to hopefully one day have children. I was diagnosed with PCOS at age of 17 and it's been rough. All I have ever wanted was a family. Today I am on my 3 rd day first round of Clomid praying it works. So ladies once again I pray baby blessings to you both and hopefully soon I can report great news. Be blessed gg

Thank you for the well wishes..the hospital stay was like a 75 % good...but when I compared myself to be alive n moving n feeling a lot better, then that 25% dissapears lol

It was a 2 night stay ....no nausea, no dizziness, but excruciating pain for the next 24 hours following the Surgery, due to wrong pain medication n pee on myself like 7 times while I was in the recovery room....but hey again im so thankful to my Lord Jesus, to give me the opportunity to have this Surgery n help me thru every pain, thru every tear..

Even with everything that I went thru I dont regret this Surgery at all...and im so happy, right now I feel like 10 garbage truck hit me, all at once, but all is good because im home with God hubby :)

words of warning lol.

I have had pcos for years. its been almost 8 years since I needed birth control cause I couldn't get pregnant. I do have one fertility treatment baby and we as a couple decided that weight loss would be a better option for another. so I have the sleeve last feb 19th and well when they say it will be super easy to get pregnant it is. I was 3 months out and was having trouble losing weight so they took me off the pill and told me to use other protection. one time without and we are having a baby girl in march. I only had lost 65lbs at that point, so it doesn't take much to make your fertility go way up. I thought they were full of it when its said only a 5% lose is needed lol but guess they were right. so yes ladies stick with the plan and do what they tell you and soon hopefully it will work out for you. great news is most of my pcos symptoms are gone as well. I will say don't get pregnant so soon out from surgery as it has been one scary ride. good luck

I have PCOS and i have a 6 year old, we tried for 4 years to have another baby before i had my surgery with no luck. ^ months out from my surgery, and on BC i got pregnant. I am currently 24 weeks along. my doctor said that they are trying to get the sleeve surgery passed as a treatment for PCOS because it is so effective. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you got pregnant quite quickly after you have lost some of the weight.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
