My husband must think this surgery = no stomach at all!

Recommended Posts

Apparently since having my surgery I am invisible. I go ahead and make dinner a little early because my husband has to head to work. I have my dinner after he leaves so I can eat slowly without interruption. Tonight we are having chicken breast (which I'm able to ground up) and my daughter and him have noodles with it. So he is chowing down on his meal and I turn to him and asked him " you made sure to set aside some chicken for me right?" and his response "um no I didn't know you wanted me to" really?? what am I invisible? just because I had a large portion of my stomach removed doesn't mean I don't have a stomach at all. I do need to eat to survive. This is the second time this week he has done this, takes all the food, even after I tell him to take what he wants but to save some so I have something to eat later. Everything goes in one ear and out the other with him. So glad I asked him mid eating if he saved me any. So he proceeded to set aside his half eaten chicken for me.

Maybe you should start plating out the food for them or making just say 3 chicken breasts so your family knows one for each of you.

I suggest getting your food separated first before laying it on the table or otherwise giving Conan access to it.

I was with relatives over Christmas. My niece stopped and got Chinese for 8. I was being my usual restrained self and waited until most everyone got their portions. When it was my turn most was gone except for the General Tsos which was sitting in front of her husband. He was eating right out of the carton and acted suprised that anyone needed any. He made me come over and fish some pieces out while he glared at me. Reminded of a scene out out of 1,000,000 B.C. :D

Omg, how horrible!!

Yah i'll have to not be so laid back about dinner time anymore. I'm just use to letting my husband get what he wants and in the past he has always been good about setting food aside for me but since getting the surgery he acts like I no longer need to eat at all.

I've learned that I have to just prepare enough for 1 meal or my husband will eat everything. He's lucky I will even cook anything anymore. LOL

I would make him cook his own meals for a week or so and then see if he could remember to be a little more considerate.

Pull your meal out and set the rest out for your family. I honestly have lost my desire to eat a bunch of different foods anymore and sometimes find cooking for my family and just picking or not eating what they are having at all.

I have to set mine aside and be very clear about leftovers. And they still get taken, more frequently than I'd like.

On the other hand it is hard to eat with my family because they all eat so much! And my husband says it's hard to eat with me because how little I eat makes him feel guilty.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
