Just feeling awful & miserable! Almost 1 month post-op

Recommended Posts

I can't shake this awful feeling I have most days. It's like nausea, butterflies, headache, & fatigue. The only time I feel good is when I am sitting in my recliner after taking an anit-nausea pill & drinking a small glass of milk. I get up everyday, go to work, try to eat right, try to exercise, hoping that any day now I will feel like my old self (only lighter!).

My sister had lap-band & she said everything I'm feeling is normal as she felt the same way for about 2 months. But reading the forums on here, it seems like everyone is totally back to normal by this time.

The one bright spot is that I'm down almost 40lbs.

I just ordered some samples from Unjury because I've been having difficulty getting all my Protein in from food, so I'm going to up my intake by adding their unflavored protein to things like sugar free pudding & veggie chili as well as making more Protein Shakes.< /p>

Last night was a horrible night at work but thats probably because

Can someone shed some light on anything I can do to help me feel better?

Thanks everyone!

I just realized I didn't finish this post!

Anyway, I probably felt bad last night because I drank a fresh lemonade & the sugar got to me. So that's totally my fault!

Up your Water. Up your Protein. Get more calories in for the short while.

I felt crappy at 4 week.. But by weeks 6, 7, 8 and got on real food? I was flying.

Try roasted meats in gravy with mashed vegetables. It'll make you feel like a human and one pot of it will last you, like, forever whilst at work!

Stay away from citrus, sugar, fats and high-spice. It won't sit well. Keep it bland and get the food in. Promise, it'll make the biggest change to your mental state.

Thank you! I will do that, they sound delicious!!

I love my citrus, but you are so right, but it is sooo not my friend right now!

You're very welcome.

in truth, citrus won't likely be your friend for quite a while.. It takes time, trial and error to see when things start 'working' for you again and when they don't.

I'm 15 weeks out and I wouldn't risk that level of citrus still.. Can't be doing with the rampant indigestion. Same with hot spices.

Promise you though - get some real, home-down, healthy food in you - keep it simple - eat it regularly and you will feel much better.

To the above answer just stick with the roasted meat and gravy. I would skip the tators. I'm 2years plus out and can only eat a few bites of potatoes and feel like I ate a log. Go for roasted veggies. The thing is not everything will agree with everyone. Just got to take it one food at a time and take it from there. Figure what works and what doesn't. Good Luck Linda

Also if you have any blood sugar issues lemonade or any fruit juices can play havoc with you.

Good luck with your journey!

Thanks guys, these are all great suggestions! How do we feel about those already cooked meats in gravy that you just have to heat & serve?

And I think I have been doing myself a disservice with fruit juice. It just may be the blood sugar highs & lows that are doing me in!

Again, thanks for all the advice!!!

And keep it coming!

We rock!!!

I didn't start to feel better until about six weeks and even then not great. ALmost 9 weeks out now and just starting to feel normal again. I don't know how people go back to work at 2 or 3 weeks. I needed the whole 8 weeks to be feeling up to it. I always eat my Protein first, then veggies and then starch (usually just a small bite if that, because there is no more room by then). It seems to work out pretty well and is the most comfortable eating pattern. Today I screwed up and ate some Pasta with my meat instead of after and it was not good.

I'm really finding it hard to get my Water intake. I'm almost positive that is why I'm not feeling so great. I danced a lot on New Year's Eve & although I was always getting a glass of water from the bar, I did myself in & ended up dry heaving for 15 minutes when I got home from pure exhausting & dehydration. I find that if I really concentrate on keeping hydrated I don't feel as crappy. All the flavored waters I've been drinking & plain water are all "played out" right now so I'm always looking for new flavors to try. I'm working my way through the SoBe Life Water varieties.

And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE roasted meat in gravy!! Whatever I don't finish, my loving dog gets the rest! So he's very happy, too!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
