Newly Banded and very emotional

Recommended Posts

It's all mental, I swear. I was banded on the Feb 12th and when people ask me am i hungry.. I honestly have to THINK about it. I just want to eat because it's human and i feel like i should be eating, pigging out, etc.

Even though i am on mushies until April 12th.. I still drink a lot of liquids.. mostly Protein drinks which make me pretty full. You will have stomach grumbles for abit - that is normal.

Just hang in there.. I was upset after surgery wondering what i got myself into and now i do NOT regret it.. The pants falling off of me is a constant reminder. You'll be fine!!

btw: good luck shermy58!! :)

I was also banded on the 14th . I was on Clear Liquids for 3 days , then full liquids until the 21sts. Today is the first day I had any hunger at all. My stomach was hurting really bad, not rumbling , but hurting. I figured out that I was probably hungry , sure enough. I just remind myself how much all this is worth it.

I also gained weight from all the swelling and fluids that they pumped into me during surgery . As of this morning I am back down to were I started the day of surgery. So if you weigh yourself don't be alarmed, like I was.:omg: Also because of the drastic change in diet my blood pressure bottomed out. So my pcp took me off my blood pressure pills for know. I was feeling so dizzy and faint every time I got up. My BP turned out to be 90/60. So Monitor everything.

My surgeon instructed me to eat anything that moved through a straw. That included creamy Soups. They saved my life. YOu just can't eat the meat or other items you may find in them. Cream of broccoli goes down great and will not hurt your band. Good luck.

I was very emotional in the first days after surgery also. I think it was a mixture of the being starving!! and the pain meds. I'm almost two weeks post op now and not any more emotional than usual.

Hang in there. It'll get better.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
