Follow my Gastric Sleeve journey from Day 1 post op!

Good evening, all! I thought I would take the advice of @@LuminousLife and journal my story for therapeutic reasons. I have chosen to only tell my husband, mom, and 2 best friends (from different states) and I figured since I've been getting support for months here from all of you, I could maybe assist others!

I will first give a little bit of my background. I am 27 years old, married with no children (yet)! I am not on any medications, blood pressure and cholesterol, etc are all great... I just need to lose weight! (About 125 lbs to be exact.) I officially started this journey back in August, however had been researching my options for about a year before that.

I was sleeved this morning at 9am and my surgeon said everything went perfectly! Honestly, I had been expecting the worst... Gas pains, stomach soreness, not being able to pee, etc... I have had NONE of that. Knock on wood, other than a dry mouth, I feel so blessed to have today go as well as it did. I got to my room at about 11am (I believe) and I felt sick to my stomach for about an hour and kept falling asleep. At about 2pm, I noticed I already felt way better. I've been taking advantage of sleeping when I want (I literally did not sleep all last night bc I got sick from this stupid tofu Soup I ate for lunch. Gross.) I've been using my spirometer when I can and been taking laps around the Bariatric unit every two hours, each time feeling better and better! Any questions/comments are greatly welcomed!

Jaime14, I'm having the exact same issue. I'm 3 days post of. Cramping. I haven't tried warm liquids yet, but so far I feel everything going down. I get a cramp like feeling when whatever it is enters my stomach. I haven't been getting much in at all. So the protein seems like it's going to be a challenge.

Semply, I went through the same discomfort where anything other than saliva hurt going down and it caused me not to want to swallow anything. But it definitely gets better. I'm 2 1/2 weeks and doing much better!

Well, after writing that last night I woke up feeling better. I am about to start on my protein shake and will keep everyone posted. I can tell that time will def be on my side...I will be in touch this afternoon. :)

Hi. I just joined today. I am 4 days post op. My surgeon says I should be getting in at least 40 oz or liquid including protein. That seems impossible. I have terrible cramps and it hurts going down. I have tried changing the temps and warm is def easier but it's just so hard. I also can't to the g2 everything tastes so sweet to me. I an nervous about dehydration and having a really hard time. Advise?

I'm telling you, in 3 days from now, it will be completely different. Until then, just constantly keep a water bottle with you (I remember Crystal Lite going down much easier) and sip like it's your job. I just got off the treadmill and drank a half bottle of water within 2 minutes... I promise, IT GETS SO MUCH BETTER! Just keep sipping, just keep sipping. :)

Highlighted for emphasis for those in week 1 post-op. Fantastic way to look at it.

I am finally on my way. Just did my stress test this morning. The only thing left is my endoscopy. So excited want to lose this weight like last year. How's everyone doing today.. Sleevers and to be sleevers. Happy sleeve day.

I am wondering if anyone else feels progressively worse as the day goes on. I started off feeling pretty good and have already had to take a nausea pill. I am struggling. Need some feedback to see if this is a common complaint and struggle 5 days post op.

Jamie 14 hi it hurts when it goes down but time will heal all that I used to be the same way I am 3 months post op and 68 pounds lighter trying to loose another 50

Thanks for the encouragement. Did you have a difficult time w protein shakes?

I am 4 days out and feel fuller as the day goes by. I get to the point where I can't drink anymore. I am only getting about 32 oz of liquid now, but keep plugging away. Hang in there Jaime14.

Dream come true the biotin u took was that a pill? I am 3 months post op have not lost any hair but just asking tnx

Yep! Biotin is a pill that I take every morning. It's super small and they are pretty cheap! I'm only about 3 weeks post op and haven't noticed hair loss, but I figured for $5 a month, I'm taking it as a precautionary! Can't hurt to try!

Dreamscometrue, great journaling!!!

Congrats on your WLS and success!! You're doing a great job and inspiring and motivating me the pre-op's and post-up's like me.

I'm 6 wks post-up and doing well, just not getting my walking/exercise in due to low back injury/pain.

WLS was 11/14/13 I'm 5'7

HW 266

SW 244

CW 236

GW 165

I'm losing inches but scale is not moving. I'm ok with my results though. Went from tight size 20 to lose size 16

I get all my Protein, Water and small meals in, but since I returned to work 2 wks ago I find myself not taking all my Vitamins. I have been feeling super tired and fatigued. I know it's got to be not taking all my vitamins. Prior to my surgery I was very on Vitamin D my Endricologist had me on 50k mlg once a week.

Went to Vitamin Shoppe and bought all liquids of:

Multivitamin

Iron

Omega 3 w/vitamins D3

Calcium w/vitamin D

Vitamin D drops

Biotin 5000mlg dissolvable ny Natrol (tastes like cherry/grape) really good.

Tried to start taking all Thursday but haven't, can't stand the smell of vitamins especially iron. Yuk!!

Look forward to reading your posts. Keep up the great job!! Love you enthusiasm and positive attitude. : )
