Exactly one med! I was taking two blood pressure pills and when I seen my pcp it was slightly high but he wanted to wait and see how it would do with more weight lose. I had it checked recently and it was really good so I was lucky. Sometimes no matter how small you are you still need meds to help your body! One med is better than 4

Thanks! One med IS better than five!

I am with all of you guys too had my surgery nov 28 2013 and still not meat except sandwich ham and turkey bacon, which none are good for me..I have a friend who live same town as I and she had it done 5 years ago and still can't each much meat, not even turkey. Our doctor told her the reason we cant eat much meat period is because not of the size or texture it is because they have so much protien our little pouches get full with such small amounts. i have been finding tiny wraps fun and good to eat. Makes you feel like at least you are a bit normal. Another thing i do is make mini pizza with the little wraps using cottage cheeze or salsa sauce and anything else you can handle.

I find that any carbs stall my weight loss, and my doc and nut basically say Protein first, and then if there's room for vegetables, great...but carbs should be the last on the list. And they both always remind me to make sure meats are moist... Salsa, broth or anything else low-fat to moisten. Maybe try some of that?

I've had that, but didn't know what it was called. Each time I had it, it was because I had to force myself to vomit because I tried chicken once again. The chicken got stuck and the pain was unbearable until I vomited it back up. Even then, it was only a small amount, with the foamies. I'm three months post RNY. But I still can't handle chicken, no matter how small it's cut or how moist it's prepared. The ONLY meats I've been able to handle are the ground and formed deli meats, like turkey ham, cut into small cubes, no more than 1/2 inch per side. So I stick to Beans and peas for most of my non-whey Proteins. Any advice?

I'm 9 1/2 months out and have only recently been able to eat chicken and keep it down (like two days ago). Protein foods I've always done well with are tilapia, shrimp, ground chicken and turkey, chili made w/ground meat, sirloin tips au jus (very little) and baked beans if low in sugar. Also, diet staples for me are cheeses, low sugar Protein Bars, ostrich meat sticks, split pea Soup, chowder, and Greek yogurts mixed w/low sugar protein granola.

That's all good to know. I don't think I'll try your ostrich though! I've tried all the others, with mixed results. I'm glad whey protein is available. It most often ensures I get enough protein each day.

I keep getting a UTI. This is my 4th one since surgery 12/16/14. I'm starting to think that the original UTI never completely went away. Maybe I'm not absorbing as much of the antibiotic as I need to for it to completely go away. I go to the bariatric Dr Monday. I guess I'll talk to him about it, but this really sucks :(

I really hope you can get it cleared up and find some relief Christi! I am a kidney stone sufferer myself so I know how inconvenient and painful the frequent urge to urinate can be. While I was on antibiotics for a uti and while passing a stone I took the OTC Extra strength AZO in addition to my antibiotics and it definitely helped keep me comfortable more than anything.

Thanks! I've been awake since 4 am with discomfort. I'm waiting on the nearby CVS to open (at 7) I'll pick up some AZO. Thanks for the suggestion.

I went to the Doctor today for my 3 month follow up. I've lost 80 pounds altogether (60 since surgery on 12/16). She's concerned I'm losing too fast. She doesn't think I'm getting all my nutrition. I was telling her how I still don't tolerate meat. She said if that doesn't change in a couple weeks they will do an endoscopy to see if the opening from my stomach to my intestines needs to be opened a little to help me tolerate the meat. They did routine blood work. Next week I'll find out if I am deficient in anything. Hopefully not.

So you can't eat any type of meat? Like even Turkey Deli style or chicken?

It's comforting to hear from all of you on this meat eating. I've had success with a little shrimp and a little white fish, and as I've said before, a little of the (bad) deli meats, like turkey ham. But all have to be cut small to begin with, no more than cubes 1/2 inch per side, and then chewed twenty or thirty times each before swallowed. I'm chicken of chicken! And I've got a beef with beef! I'll keep trying them every so often though, just to see if anythings changed. But mostly I'll keep eating Beans and peas and whey Protein. Like Greenize said, we're mostly vegetarians now.

Agreed this makes me feel way better! I haven't been able to eat meat at a all and I'm 3 months out

Being mostly vegetarian isn't bad at all! ;-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
