Recommended Posts

I had surgery on 12/23/13, a bypass to bypass revision. Noe my problems are the same no appetite, no desire to drink so therefore.I'm not getting my Protein or fluids. Then on top of that still having a lot of pain at surgical site thay the doctor daid should no be there this long. I have haf.CT scans and an EGD and they cannot determine what is causing my pain. Which I have a high tolerance to pain. The doctor were talking bout possible feeding tube, which I do not want. Then on top of that started being nausea for the past week.

Which side are you having pain? I had more pain on the right but not unbearable. I figured he moved a big instrument around to get to the left side but my pain is better. Man a feeding tube I would not want that either.

Yes thank you for your encouragement! Your right comparing yourself to others is not a good thing. I try to tell this to people I work with about me weighing etc. I am having a hard time eating four meals a day and getting all my Water in. I always come close but I haven't been able to get it all in. My pouch is kinda nauseous in the am and I have to make myself eat for lunch. Anybody have the same thing or have any advice for me!

In my support group it was suggested that a hot (or warm) drink be the first thing you have on the morning if you feel queasy. It soothes your pouch which has been without fluids or food for many hours. Then have your Breakfast or Protein Shake 30-60 mins later. Supposedly it helps. :-)

I had RNY Dec 16. My Doctor told me I need to be getting at least 1000 calories in a day. I'm doing good if I get 500 in. Anyone figure out how to do this? Not getting my Protein in either. Blah.

Wow, 1000 calories a day? I'm one month out and getting around 300...add in exercise and I sometimes end up with a deficit. In another two weeks, my main focus will be on getting 60-70 grams of protein a day. One day at a time...

I have to agree with all of you the protien and fluids is almost in impossible. I know i am not even close to 1000 cal. and protien i might be lucky to get 50. Now I have to also try and take all these Vitamins and plus other meds i am already on wow this is a struggle but so worth it i keep telling myself hahah. I keep trying different food but keep going back to soft foods . Thank you for the advise on warm liquid in the morning. I am going to try that.

Speaking of chicken, every time it causes pouch pain. I think it's because it ends up being too dry, or the meat fibers might be too long. I don't know. Any ideas on how to prepare it so it doesn't cause pain?

What about with a little Alfredo sauce?

I've tried it plain, with plain yogurt, with alfredo sauce, and lightly breaded so far. All no good. I'm thinking it's going to be one of those foods that I'll come back to and try every so often. Just to see if if still causes the pain, or if it's palatable. It's disappointing since chicken breast is one of the best Protein sources. I still have my back up whey Protein Shakes, YUCK!

Speaking of fish, what's the most palatable? And what's the best way to prepare it?

My NUT said to try it in Soup. The fat from an Alfredo could make you dump. I poached mine with garlic and lemon, and it was soft and yummy.

December buddies, I'm getting really frustrated with up chucking every other food I try. I think I'm actually getting turned off of food. That itself is AMAZING. I'm grabbing my Protein Shake and saying the hell with it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
