Thank you all. The CT showed I had a possible inflamed gallbladder, but that all of the surgery stuff looked fine. (I will reserve judgement until my surgeon reads the results) They did an ultrasound which the tech said my gallbladder looked angry but after the radiologist read the results said there were no stones and came back in the normal range. So conclusion is phantom pain as a result of surgery :/

I am calling my surgeon this morning so he can get the results of the testing last night. I am also suppose to hear from my nut today about changing the Protein so hopefully today is the day I can eat something! I am managing the upper right quadrant pain with a heating pad and tylonal it's not helping much hopefully it will get better with time.

Edited by and then...

Thank you Hollyr for chase king in on me. I wish I had a glowing review of how much better I am but I don't. After leaving the ER I went home got some rest the Nut called me we discussed switching Protein powders. She thought it might be lactose intolerance so off I was sent to purchase lactaid and body fortress whey isolate. I tried it and didn't throw up! I was only able to choke down like 3 oz if it but it was down! Then the diarrhea started... Every time I drank a new shake I would get a terrible stomach ache and end up in the bathroom.

Called my nut again. I have a artificial sweetner intolerance and we discussed since I have been on sucralose and aspertian as my main source of nutrition I was wondering if my body was just over it. I can keep down Clear Liquids and cream based strained Soups without issues. I asked about switching to a more Water like Protein like Isopure but she refused saying it is not a good absorbable source. We discussed switching to a soy based but I have a intolerance to soy as well. She talked to my surgeon and decided to switch me to soft foods 4 days early. Yea!!!

I was super excited. I chewed slow took about 15-20 per meal and here are my results: night 1 I had a piece of tilapia about the size of a quarter and two dime sized scallops stewed in Tomato Water. Kept it down for about an hour. Then puked for 3 hours until my back and stomach was in knots. Okay shake it off. Morning of day 2 something lighter... A scrambled egg. Kept it down for about 45 minutes. Then began to throw-up. Called the nurse hotline BAMB slapped down to clear liquid again. Talked to my hubby we decided I had kept most of the egg down had only thrown up once and didn't throw -up like the day before. I should try a little chicken and black Beans (we cook it in the crock pot then shred for burritos) I tried and ate maybe 1/8 of a cup of chicken. Kept it for a hour puked once but kept most down. Day 3 today try another egg without cooking spray. (The nurse had mentioned this could possibly be my problem) kept it in for 45 minutes proceeded to puke for 3 hours until every last bit of that egg was out. I conceded back to clear liquids and am feeling like my esophagus is a bit swollen and have been battling a mad case of nausea all day.

As part of my clear liquids I had a drink with sucralose in it trying to rehydrate because I am starting to feel the effects of dehydration I just cannot see to get the liquid in. Sent me running to the bathroom with diareah. :(

So at this point I have kept down next to zero protein and I am 12 days out.

I am so heartbroken. I was sure that this surgery would help change my life but I truly feel that by doing it I have placed the nails in my coffin. I will eventually wither away only drinking clear liquids. Idk what to do at this point. I see my surgeon on the 20th I guess I will just hang on until then my nurse and Nut are suppose to be calling tomorrow but at this point idk where they will send me but back to the store to purchase another expensive protein that I won't be able to tolerate everything is sweetened with artificial sweeteners. Ugh sorry to be such a wet blanket but I wish I would have never had this surgery,

I am so sorry to hear this! I am including you in my prayers and hope you find some relief soon.

In looking at your "soft" foods, I am wondering if they may be a bit heavy and you may do better with something like mashed potatoes or mashed sweet potatoes or the like? Scallops have always been touchy on my stomach for some reason, and chicken and Beans can sometimes be difficult to digest. eggs, too.

Cream of rice hot Cereal tastes good and has Vitamins and Iron in it. It's easy to digest and is fed to babies. I personally love it for Breakfast to this day. Cream of wheat, runny oatmeal, all would give you some nutrition and maybe not be so hard on you?

Of course, if your doc says Clear liquids for now, that is what it has to be.

See if you can get your appointment moved up sooner so you can discuss this with your surgeon.

(Hugs)

I agree and I was thinking the same about the solids food choices being a little rough so soon, but I am not the typical sleever.

A lot of people have issues with eggs too. A few bites of potatoes may be a better start. And just take a few bites or a few sips of liquid at a time.

Listen to your body. Stay after the dr until he can figure out what's wrong.

Big hugs. Will say a prayer for you. I truly understand what you're going through.

I tend to agree with you but according to my instructions I am not allowed mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes because they are carbs. Since I can't hold down the Protein they are trying to get my protein through food. And asked that i focus on the highest protein sources. I am suppose to get 96gms of protein a day. I have some cream of wheat but shied away from it because it has no protein content. I actually love cream of wheat and malt-o-meal. My NUT wanted me to mix the protein in that was making me puke. At this point I am willing to try most anything. I will discuss with my NuT tomorrow. It all seems so impossible each egg is like 7gms or something I can't even eat half. I have no idea how to get all of my Water in I am getting like 10-12 oz in a day which is futile against the vomiting and diarrhea. It like a vicious cycle of suck.

I certainly hope you find some relief. That has to be awful. This early out you have to be more careful about becoming dehydrated. I hope you are able to move up your appointment to an earlier date as the 20ths is a long way away with all the problems you are experiencing.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, another person had this and it did get better.

Please keep us posted.

I read somewhere on here in the last several months to try pedialyte when you r dehydrated... also I know that Water can make me sick to my stomach if it is empty... so maybe if u can get pedialyte down for 30 -45 min and then try the cream of wheat with just a bit it Protein mixed in...

The first two weeks for me was clear liquids, no Protein just Water, diluted apple juice, tea(weak), and more water. The next two weeks full liquids, cream soups(strained) thinned yogurt, thin shakes. It sounds like your NUT is rushing you. I actually for some phases spent a couple more days as I felt I wasn't ready to progress. It is way to early to be eating anything solid; no chicken, Beans, eggs(a lot of people can't tolerate eggs). If you want more detailed information just PM and I can give you a list. Remember to be constantly sipping your water, you do not want to become dehydrated.

Are you on anti-nausea meds? If not, you probably should be. The patch kind so you don't have to swallow something.

I am so sorry you are having such a difficult journey. Remember that God only gives us as much as we can handle. I have faith that you'll make it through this treacherous time and will come out on top! You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. I am on anti-nausea meds. I have zofran that melts and another that starts with a "p" I can't remember the name off hand. Some times they help sometime not at all. I try calming my stomach with peppermint tea and peppermint oil rubbed on the outside. That helps calm the throw-up spasms a bit.

My nurse called and said she is going to speak to my Dr but she is thinking they will just keep me on clear liquid until my appointment. There has been no mention of moving it up I have asked for an earlier one to no avail. I do have to travel 4 hours to the area I had the surgery for my first post op. So I doubt an earlier appointment is in my future.

Yesterday I tried a Sucralose sweetened clear drink to try an up my Fluid since I am having a hard time with Water and kept it for about 30 minutes then sent me running to the restroom with diarrhea.

As of now I am waiting on instructions from my bariatric team.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
