Hi All

I am really interested to learn if I have issues not related to the sleeve.

I just love my sleeve and have lost weight from 115kg to 89.5kg in 4 months.

I seem to have what can be considered hot flushes for no reason and then other times I seem to get cold more often.

It is a constant trip to the aircon control and taking off and putting on clothes.

Given I am 52 years old, I had my hormones checked and the dr insists that I am not in menopause and hardly even in pre menopause.

Please let me know if anyone else also has or had this.

Does it pass?

I'm 53 and had my surgery July 2012 and do experience the same symptoms since my surgery. I'm post menopausal so I am not sure what it is. I thought it was the surgery too. Just wanted to let you know your not the only one with the hot and cold:)

I was sleeved in March. I have been very cold since surgery but in the last month or so I have been having hot flashes. I am 53 and was assuming it is hormonal. I was checked last year at my annual but was not there yet. I am due in March so it will be interesting to see if it's menopause or not.

The hot flashes are not bad but just irritating, especially at night. Throwing blankets off then freezing two minutes later.

I am post-menopausal. As I have lost weigh I feel like my hot flashes have returned. I also find I get cold more easily and more often. Someone else (gamergirl?) posted that as we lose fat we release stored female hormones back into our system. Perhaps that is what causes these "thermostat" changes in us ladies. Maybe the newest trend in VSG ladies wear is a fan and a sweater.

I'm relieved to have found this thread - I've lost more than 25% of my body weight (most of it some months ago now), and am having a shocking time with hot flushes/flashes. Many each day.

I've also got a chronic (slow growing) cancer, and hot flushes can be a sign the cancer is getting more active, and I came back to this thread in the hope of finding posts like these.... As I too had heard fat cells store oestrogen, so it seems to me a lessening of my fat deposits would further reduce my post-menopausal hormone levels (and I had a lot of hot flushes when I first went through menopause 7 years ago, following a radical hysterectomy).

Once again you folks have helped me hang on to the thin thread of my sanity... Thank you!

PS: I will mention it to my Dr too.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
