It's going to depend on your insurance, and your doctor's preference. I was in at 6:45 and home by noon...and I live an hour from the surgery center!

Thank you everyone! I found out I will be staying overnite. My Surgery won't be until the afternoon, so they want me to stay. Well I guess I don't have to worry about eating Hospital Food! (lol)

It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since being banded for me (03/15). Was wondering how everyone else was feeling. It is truly like a cloud has lifted after 10 or so days. Week one was ugly but then "BOOM" I felt so much better. I went to my Doc last Friday he said that I was off to a great start and upgraded me to soft foods for a week. Yeah I get to chew finally. He said to do that for a week then I could go on to regular foods. So now the challenge I find is to not over do it. I am suppose to only have 1/2 cup per meal and you know how your eyes are always bigger than your stomach. Unfortunally I have experienced the pain in my chest from not chewing well enough and over doing it and OMG!!!! Not so much fun.

Well Good luck to all and Happy Weight LOSS!!!!!!

This is kinda off topic, but it could serve as encouragement to stay on the post-op diet I guess. You had mentioned not having to eat hospital food, LOL

After my surgery to have my tubes tied, I was supposed to be on Clear Liquids only. However the hospital serves a candlelit steak dinner for you and your spouse after the birth of every child. They brought it right to me without even asking my doctor. I assumed it was FINE since she came in while I was eating and didn't say anything. She just looked a little stunned. I later found out why. IT WAS THE WORST PAIN I HAVE EVER FELT. OMG the gas from surgery, mixed with having a meal too soon. I literally thought I was going to DIE. I don't think it will be too hard for me to stay on liquids for a little while post-op! LOL

Rocko, it depends on your surgeon. He may have you stay overnight or do it outpatient. As far as the pain goes, I stayed on liquid Tylenol and I was fine. Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
