December 2013 Sleevers This Is Our Month Are Yall Ready!?

Recommended Posts

Today is day 7 of my pre-op diet! And it's not as hard as I thought. Made it through a family dinner without slip-ups! I was very proud of myself. I realize now that I am the only one that can stop myself from meeting my goals. Surgery is 8 days away and I am nervous, happy, anxious, and excited! So many different emotions. My last consult with my surgeon is today at 3:30. This is going to be a fresh start for me and I am looking forward to the journey, no matter how tough! Good luck to all the December Sleevers!!!

Does anyone in here have to use a CPAP? I just got mine last week and was told I need to be "compliant" with my machine for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I am really trying but I hate that damn thing. I find sleeping far MORE difficult with it because I'm a little claustrophobic. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips and if your surgeons are strict about this or not?

Just wanted to share, I like the Protein Shake I made today!!!! Finally. Made coffee with stevia and milk. Let cool. Added 1 scoop vanilla Unjury, pumpkin pie spice, and ice. Yummy!!! Was similar to pumpkin spice latte!!!! Finally. I've struggled with these so bad. Know I'm not supposed to be having much caffeine so switching to Decaf but excited!

--I had to take a sleep test but thankfully the cpap was not needed cause I was negative for sleep apnea as I suspected initially

I have the cpap also. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems with it. At support group one of the post op ladies said she couldn't get to sleep with hers, so shw would wear it while she was sitting watching tv. That's how's she was able to be compliant for the 2 weeks.

I met with my surgeon today and told him about my issues with it. He didn't seem to strict about it. Told me to be sure I bring it with me on the surgery date. I'm still going to attempt to use it but I'm not going to let it stress me. Thanks for the tip though. I may try that as well!

Last consult with the surgeon today and it went well! Got all my questions answered. He helped relieve the apprehension I was feeling about getting a drain and about the CPAP. I'm excited all over again. I love my doctor. Also I'm down 10 pounds from 10 days ago, which is absolutely awesome!

Not sure of what they gave you, but if you were given a full mask that is uncomfortable and make you feel claustrophobic you can request what's called a nasal pillow for your cpap. Lots of people find it more comfortable than the full mask. Sometimes it's as simple as contacting the supply company to request the change, or just getting an order from the doctor. I personally don't have a cpap, but have dealt with lots of people that do. Hope this helps.

I am also claustrophobic but ended up getting some Ativan to calm me down enough to sleep with it. As of now almost a week post op I'm not using it, no snoring.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
