Switching Insurances

Recommended Posts

I currently have insurance (UHC) through my employer, PetSmart. My insurance doesn't cover the surgery, so I was thinking of switching insurances to one that does cover it.

Is that a wise idea?Or should I go the self-pay route?

Untied health care? Cus they paid for mines in 10/07. I would contact them agAin if I were u.

Was it individual insurance or group insurance? PetSmart didn't add weight loss surgery to their list of things UHC should cover.

It all depends on your plan benefits. Each is different as there are thousands of plans out there under each insurance name.

I would recommend changing insurances if you have the option to one that covers it

I work for walgreens n honestly not sure but I know I called once to see what was going on with my approval n they tried to tell me it wasn't covered. This is after I already had a case number and a nurse assigned. (My paper work was faxed to wrong department )

Good point. You should be able to call and see if they cover WLS

I have already, twice. And they said they don't. I just don't know if they don't cover it at all, or if there's a way around it with a referral from my doctor.

Typically, if it's not a covered benefit they will not cover it at all. If it is a benefit, you will need to get a series of things done. I would look into switching insurances that covers the surgery.

Thanks for that. I do qualify, but if the insurance doesn't cover it... there's not much I can do except find new insurance.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
