Greek Cream Cheese?

Has anyone else tried this? I bought a block (cautiously...since I had never heard of it before) when it was on sale.

I was pleasantly surprised by it. It has a little less calories that regular cream cheese and it has more Protein. It does have a different sort of flavor than regular cream cheese...maybe a bit of a tang to it? Hard to describe.

Anyway, I went back and bought a bunch more while it was on sale. The funny thing was it is the store brand...and usually they make a store brand to compete with a name brand but I have search (at my store anyway) and not seen a "name brand" of this kind of cream cheese. I think that's kind of odd.

Anyway, thought it was worth mentioning...

Susie, how do you make it?

You have to scald whole milk (1 gallon) and one small container of plain nonfat Greek yogurt and salt to taste then let it cool. Once it is cooled, you put it in a bag (I use a pillow case) tie it up and set a big strainer underneath it for a few days , set in a bowl so it's doesn't leak everywhere. each night dump out the extra water from the case that's underneath in the extra bowl. Once thickened u can put in a Tupperware and just garnish with olive oil (optional) as needed. Time consuming, but worth it!

I used it in sf banana pudding with ff milk as a thickener and added whip topping and banana and it was pretty good

I really like it a lot - it has more flavor than regular cream cheese, I think. I use it in a lot of different recipes.
