I cut my hair off today. It was kinda hard to do but I just thought I had to do something. The Hair loss hasn't let up much and I'm nearing 7 months post op. It does look healthier and the bare spots around the top where I can see the scalp some isn't as bad. I always meet my Protein goals, have taken Biotin and prenatals. Idk if the miscarriage and anesthesia from the d&c made it worse or what. So when did it stop for u guys that are further out? I do have a few tiny sprouts of new growth but I'm still steadily losing lots of hair. I'd still do this again even if it meant I had to be bald..however id like to keep my hair :) when does it stop?

Yes, it should and to answer the other question, yes when you have any type of surgery and are put under you will probably lose hair. Your body went under stress and I honestly believe it is some of the medication used in the anesthesia. That is just my opinion. I'm just started losing from my May surgery of taking the band out, then will probably start from having the bypass in Sept. I was just a good healthy growth back from having the band in 2010. But I'm not too concerned I've always worn my hair short.

My surgery was May 30. I'm still losing my hair, slowly but surely. I'm having my gallbladder out in 2 1/2 weeks so I could possibly lose more in the spring! I wasn't even thinking about that until you mentioned it 'oldoneyoungagain'! :-p Lol

I'm 19 months post op and did not lose any hair until recently I have noticed a bit more in the drain. I was very careful to make sure I took all my supplements etc. and I guess was lucky. Even before surgery I would go thru periods of losing hair so this was nothing new or out of the ordinary. I have had thyroid issues for many years and Hair loss is one of the issues. I think at some point it will stop and start to regrow. Maybe take Rogaine ? I was thinking of trying it.

Rogaine has actually crossed my mind.

Unless they have changed their formula for Rogaine it is my understanding it only works on men. But I just got some minoxidil (and I have a feeling that is what is in Rogaine, not sure though). Just make sure you get all your Protein in which helps hair growth and nails.

Secondly, your hair cut is very flattering. Even if you do lose hair, don't think anyone will notice but you, you have a good head of hair. Your picture is great.

If I may ask why are you having gastric surgery if you all ready has the band done?

Your haircut looks Great!

Mine is just getting bad here at 3 months post-op. I just started taking an Omega-Plex Vitamin last week in hopes that it will help. Plus I am coating my hair in coconut oil every few days because it looks fried. I am doing my best to make sure i am on top of Protein and Vitamins - but I guess it is what it is.

Your hair cut is super cute. Maybe I should take a hint and get mine cut a bit too.

Thanks u guys. It hasn't really made it stop falling out but doesn't look as unhealthy now I suppose. Guess this the joys we all get to share along with our successes... :)

I recently saw a tv commercial for a Shampoo called Keratasse that is specifically for thinning hair. Has anyone heard of it? I don't typically buy things from tv, so I'll check my local beauty supply store.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
