December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

At the suggestion of a fellow sleever (thanks DeezJeans) I'm starting a post-op success story thread. This can be a 'numbers' thread...when you do your weigh in's, you can post your pounds lost here, and we can keep a running total. We can use this thread JUST for pounds lost!

Looking forward to the thousands of pounds we WILL be losing!

Here's what we would like to do. Please send me a private message with your goal pounds lost. (Meaning, if your goal is to lose 150 pounds, just jot that down in a quick private message and send that to me.)

Then we will compile all the pounds from everyone who wants to participate, and post the full amount, and then work towards those goals with weekly updates. We will be recording those pounds lost AFTER surgery!

You will still post your pounds lost on this forum here so we can Celebrate all of your victories (and I will keep track of them on my trusty spreadsheet, and then report the weekly pounds lost)

If you have any questions, please let me know!

HW 375 SW 339 CW 288 I upped my calorie intake mid week as per my Primary Care Doc I didn't quite meet her mark each day since I saw her Thursday, but I'm heeding her advice since my weekly losses have been small although steady. I have been blessed with no stalls to date. My PCP feels 1000 calories would get my body burning at optimum levels. Im thinking I will make an effort to hit the mark and continue exercise (light to moderate- nothing intense yet) and test her theory to see if I lose more weight. I'm thinking she may be right because I can imagine how ravaged my metabolism is given my history of yo-yo dieting. My NUT told me not to worry about calories but to focus on protein and keeping things low fat, low carb. Most days I was ending up around 500-600 calories. She also said 3 meals a day. My PCP says toss that out, get the protein and water in but graze across the day to get more calories in. Anyone have an opinion? Anyone have a solid post op eating plan from their doc? I'm open to your input!

One of the 'concerns' my surgeons office talked about was grazing...they strongly, STRONGLY advise against it. I was told that it should be 3 meals and maybe 2 snacks. I usually do the three meals and one snack, and get in between 700-800 calories and have upped the protein to at least 80g.

I think you run the risk of overheating if you are just grazing throughout the day...so in my opinion, I would definitely caution against it.

Thanks Macman for sharing with me. I started solids at end of third week but I still at 8 1/2 weeks have a hard time with pain after eating solid protein veggies and so forth. I am going to push myself this week! Thanks again.

Good luck at OCC. I was there in December and had a great time (yes, I'm saying that about having surgery). The OCC and Marriott staff were both super nice and I really enjoyed the 3 days with my sister who I only get to see 1-2 times/year. My only regret is I had to watch her drink a margarita instead of having one myself ;)

I had been keeping my daily calories at around 800, but once I increased the average to about 1,000, the weight started coming off. I strongly believe that I was on some sort of 'starvation mode' before. If you are reading this and you are on a stall, consider shifting your calories (up or down) and see what happens. This is definitely not a linear process and I think that adjustments are needed along the way, we just need to be mindful of the impact of such changes and adjust accordingly. xo to all.

Stalled @ 201.2 x 16 days bouncing up n down, blah!!

Hang in there DeezJeanz! The losses will start again (soon, I hope!).
