November fitness challenge

Hey fitness freaks....and wannabe freaks. Time for the November installment of the fitness challenge. To try to be more inclusive and get more participation, I'm going to open things up in a new way.

The point of this challenge is to set a goal for yourself for the month of November. A fitness goal which will be challenging.....slightly more than you know you can do, more than you did last month. The goal needs to be a concrete measurable goal. The goal can be miles run, walked, biked, swam, ellipted or paddled....or a combination of all of them. But it can also be a goal of hours of exercise. 30 hours of exercise in a month is a challenging goal for many people. It can also be a specific exercise if you prefer....like 3000 squats and 1000 push-ups. Whatever it is, make it challenging, not easy. As I always say, growth and comfort cannot coexist. You want to be slightly uncomfortable. The goal should challenge you...make you slightly nervous as to whether or not you can reach it. Then....GO FOR IT!

Introduce yourself and spell out your goal for the month. Then come back here everyday or as often as you can and update the group as to your current progress toward your goal. Whether or not you make your goal is not the point. The point is to push yourself just a little further than you thought you could go.

I'll start. I'm only 4 weeks post op from my TT so not back to 100% yet, but I anticipate getting stronger as the month goes on. So my goal for November is to walk/run 60 miles. That's double what I'm going to do this month, so a challenging goal. Wish me luck.

Please join in and get moving.

Sure hope you aren't getting the flu:( Hope you feel better tomorrow

Okay, mileage is up to 100.9...yay broke 100! Goal for the month is 175 at least...

I'm anticipating that Thanksgiving will put a damper on my intense workout schedule as we will be traveling for the holiday and out of the "norm" routine. I'm making part of my challenge this month to at least walk or do something active while we are on break...even if it's not the gym routine that I follow.

Update: Nov 14

Goal: 10,000+ steps per day average for the month

Current Average: 13,018.5

Total Miles: 47.09

Started strength training on Wednesday. Meeting with Personal Trainer today for first time. Started C25K yesterday with no problems. Had one-month post-op with NUT yesterday. 50 lbs down total (pre and post op).

Today is my one-month surgiversary!

November Update JPG

MTD: 23.35

MtD: 24.85

Got a pair of holes today and the workout was not even that bad. These are from snatches and toe-to-bars today after 75 pull-ups and 6000 m rowing workout yesterday. I like working out to the tune of pulling exercises with my hands, but could do without the holes. :) Ouchie!!

4 miles today...fell just short of 70 miles to date. I am at 69.85 miles. Busy weekend planned getting ready for Thanksgiving visitors. But will definitely be doing my walking...gotta keep moving!

Ow! Those look painful. Is that "normal"?

OUCH!! Dude!! That hurts me to look at it!

hmmm, yeah. It is pretty normal when doing a lot of exercises on a bar, even when using chalk. Boy my hands are ugly!! Lol.

Ow, Fiddle can't you wear gloves?

And a new profile pic! :)

Yes, I actually got some nifty gloved a couple days ago designed for pullups, but after trying them out, I was not feeling the love. I think they need to be broken in a bit. You ever see those gloves that have % fingers and partially just cover the part of your hand that comes in contact with the bar? Next time.... I think these will take about 2 weeks to heal up.

Oh having a sniffly snuffly cold makes working out less than a barrel of fun! My philosophy is if it is not a virus, then it is not a workout killer. I came back from a business trip on Wednesday and picked up something kind of nasty at the airport that struck hard after the run workout I did that day. Already took 4 days when traveling and didn't want to miss any more days.

. Today, I feel much better and have been flushing myself with water and chomping extra vitamins. Think it helped, but who knows...

I have been traveling this week so I have not posted. But I have been able to keep working on the bike, even with all day meetings. That is a new one for me. Before taking on this challenge I would never pack the gym shoes and plan on exercise. 28 miles so far this week. Brings the monthly total to 65 miles.
