October Sleevers - Men's Room

Recommended Posts

My doctor said no caths or drains after the surgery. What he didn't say was they did use a catheter during the surgery. Luckily for me they put it in and removed it while I was out. Granted, they had to verify I could pee on the evening after surgery or they were going to put the catheter back in. It wasn't easy but I forced pee out just to prevent that from happening while I'm awake.

Today is day 3 and getting enough Water down ain't easy. I've got to sip all day long just to make my quota.

What is your current diet? How much Water are you drinking per day?

I'm on a clear fluids only diet till I see the surgeon next Wednesday. But I'm having a tough time getting fluids down. Yesterday I had two 16 oz bottles of Water, one cup of Decaf coffee and one cup of chicken broth. Today I've had one 16 oz bottle of Water and I'm working on a cup of French onion broth for lunch. I'm supposed to be drinking at least 48 to 64 ounces of Fluid per day.

I haven't taken any pain meds, nausea meds or Gas-X. I'm just not sure if it's pain from the surgery, gas pain or nausea that is making it so tough to get fluids down. It's just an overall weird feeling every time I take a sip.

Major loser

That does not sound like fun!!!

Is the issue that it is hard to get down or if you go to fast you spit it up?

It's just not very comfortable getting it down. Anything more than a tiny sip gets me nauseated and it hurts. I'm not sure if it's because they also fixed my herniated hiatus. I would have figured by now some of the internal swelling would have gone done, but I guess not.

I just got home from hospital today. Surgery was Tues at 1pm and went pretty good. Woke up to minimal pain in my stomach and no gas pains what so ever. I would have to say the hardest part about the first day for me was not being able to drink, my mouth was sooo dry, lucky the nurses gave me a sponge on a stick to moisten my mouth.

The next day I went for my swallow study first thing in the morning, and have been drinking ever since. I have had no problem drinking my shakes, Water, broth, etc. I have been trying to stay away from sweet stuff (ice pops, flavored water, etc) because it gives me phlegm which i then have to cough up, and thats painful.

I'm on Clear liquids until my appt next wed at which time I hope he lets me move to pureed.

Knock on wood everything has gone great for me. Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues.

I just had my sleeve this morning. Also had the hernia surgery. I think most of my discomfort is from the actual hernia procedure. Its been 13 since my surgery and they are letting me go him. I can't wait

If you can only sip. Little.. Then just sip a little. You need liquids. It will get easier every day.

As of the 14th of November I was 1 month post op. Today was my first day back with my trainer in almost 2 months and he was blown away with how much weight I've lost and my high energy level. What a great feeling that was. I'm actually doing it!!!

Last Friday was one month for me and I am doing great. My Dr. released me to eat anything and that is what I am doing, well except for junk food.

I still can only eat about 2 oz of meat and when I see more than that, I think "WOW that is a lot of food". I eat dinner each night with my family and watch my kids cram down a piece of chicken twice as large as mine in 1/2 the time and just shake my head. Tonight I am making a bowl of meat chili. I'm not sure how well that will go down, but I am going to give it a shot...

Russ

How did the chilli go?

I am 6 weeks out and about 3 oz is all I can handle. My assignment is to try to get to 6 oz of Protein per meal.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
