I was sleeved on the 4th, and it seems like mostly everyone has had a smooth time. Mine wasn't terribly bad, but it wasn't great either. I remember waking up right after surgery in excruciating pain (I think that's the part most people don't remember, I'm the lucky one). They finally got my pain under control, and I got to see my husband. I had a catheter in, which I requested be taken out that night. They wanted me to go pee by 4AM or else they were going to put it back in. Luckily I finally got my lady parts working at 4 on the dot lol.... The gas pain sucks, the incision pain sucks. I popped an internal suture in my lower abdomen when I coughed so that didn't help. It hurt to swallow the first few days and I would get those muscle spasms in my stomach. Thankfully that went away! I'm doing pretty well getting in all my Protein, just need to work on my hydration. I haven't lost any weight yet, and I think I'm going to stay away from the scale until my 3 week checkup.

So sorry you had a rough recovery! I hope you are feeling better as each day goes by! I don't generally recover well myself. Doc has stronger pain meds already lined up. My NUT counts "fluids" as anything without caffeine. I know all are different but if you're getting your protein in, you're probably doing pretty ok on your fluids. Glad you checked in!

MissKatt:

It sounds like you are doing better. Its too bad for the pain in the beginning. I hope you feel better every day going forward. Less than one week before my surgery…..

I'm a December 3rd sleever and I probably could have easily went back to work today, but I took two weeks off and plan to use it. Although I feel great I do think I would be exhausted working all day at this point. Good luck to those going back to the grind this week!

I'm not up to it. I'm still a little sore and wouldn't have been able to sit at a desk for 8 hrs +. I will be going back Mon 12/16/13. I still have a drain that will be removed Wed 12/11.

Hi all, a question for the pre-op dieters or this month's sleevers. Have any of you NOT lost any weight on pre-op, or lost very minimally? Going on day three here and gained two pounds even though I'm peeing like a race horse! I swear I could eat a sheet of drywall if it was put in front of me right now. Trying very hard to stick to the plan, this is a ton harder than I thought it would be

I noticed that my weight has gone up and down a little. I am in week 2 of pre-op diet. This week is much easier to deal with, but I haven't weighed in a couple of days. I know what you mean about the hunger! Yesterday I made cupcakes for my son's birthday- and did not eat any part of them! That's a first!

It is so weird. This is my second week on preop and I just made beef Jerky for my dogs (human beef jerky) and to not even have a piece is just so weird. I know, though, that I'll be able to eat it again soon enough. I lost a lot more days 1-8. So far this week, it's a slow go!

I only have one week of postop liquids, which I'm glad for!

I did go shopping today and didn't even have to think twice about food or what I couldn't have. It was neat to realize that it wasn't consuming me today!

I was sleeved on the 4th also and I had terrible gas pains as well. And you're right about the stomach spasms...ugh!!! However I am coming along well. I've actually been able to sleep on my side for 2 days and I'm much less sore each day. I'm still working in getting enough liquids but each day I get closer to goal. Today will be the first time in able to get in all my protein. I bought Liquid Protein shots to help me along. I hope by mid week to be able to reach both goals.

I was sleeved on the 3rd. I remember waking up from anesthesia and immediately feeling the pain. As I was still groggy I was saying ow and the nurses gave me meds right away. I guess they had taken the catheter out already cuz it wasn't in. I actually didn't even know I was getting one in. My boyfriend told me later on that they mentioned something about it and me having to pee before I left but I was so doped up I guess I missed that part. I went to the bathroom no problem tho.

I was in a surgery center where it's a same day procedure. I went home that evening feeling ok, still pretty doped up, and I took my meds that night before bed. I slept for about 2 hours before I awoke and was in extreme pain. I was up for the next few hours trying everything to make the pain go away. I walked, took meds, gas x (even tho I didn't feel like I had any gas) sat, stood. Nothing worked and I couldn't take the pain anyway. I called my doctor who told me to go to the hospital. I did and I was given a shot for pain and eventually checked into a room. I stayed an additional night on pain meds and it made a world of difference. If I had to choose again I'd have it done in a hospital overnight so they could control my pain. I, like you, read so many stories of everyone feeling great that I thought a same day procedure would be fine. Boy was I wrong!

Now I'm 6 days out and I still have some pains here and there. Incisions are fine and I sleep well. Only issues I really have is a cramp in my stomache every time I put anything in it. I know that will get better tho. Or at least I hope it will.

I'm sorry it hasn't been so great for you but it sound like u have it under control now. Don't worry about weighing yourself. We are all different and I'm sure when u go to the doctor u will be so excited to hear what u have actually lost.

So did you bring your own food and Protein Shakes or did the hospital provide it?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
