I was sleeved by Louisana Valenzuela with Dr Cabrera assisting. Both received extrnsive bariatric training under Dr. Corvala. I had an excellent experience. (Coordianted through MBC and had surgery at midoctor.) I can't say that I'd recommend my doctor OVER any other doctor because honestly, I've heard so many positive experiences about Corvala, F. Lopez, Aceves, and Garcia. Also a lot of people like Dr Alvarez in Piedras Negras. I think it's just a matter of finding a Doctor and coordinator that you're comfortable with while finding the location and price that's right for you.

I have to self pay for my gastric surgery and I have been researching alternative doctors and would like to know if anyone will recommend any doctors in Mexico. I am tired of this life and want my life back.

We were just sleeved by Dr Alvarez in Piedras Negras Mexico on Sept 30. We are extremely pleased with our surgery and the care we received from him and all his staff. They are very efficient and organized. Could not have asked for a smoother experience. Our wait was 3 months, but that was my choice due to my work schedule.

I was sleeved my Dr. Alvarez on Sept 27. I also had great care and a great experience. I was back to work in a week and I'm down 19 pounds since surgery. My incisions are complete healed. Recovery was fairly easy. The hospital is old but clean. The town is busy with cars and people walking. I never felt unsafe.

I used alvarez no flight because its only four hours away from me in Texas. There are many other surgeons in Mexico with good reputations. It really depends on your lists of wants and needs.

Dr Ariel Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center did mune last Monday. It was a wonderful experience with no pain and little discomfort. He has done 10,000 of these. It's all he does. he runs a Center of Excellence that is certified to US Standards.

I think it's a plus that he has a clinic not a hospital. that means that there are no sick patients. Less chance of infection.

There is a reason he is a rock star in bariactic medicine.

I, too am scheduled with Dr. Ariel Ortiz at OCC. Working with Carolyn has been simple and straightforward, she has been extremely timely in answering e-mails, relaying questions to the doctors, etc. I've submitted medical history, submitted FMLA paperwork filled out by OCC to my HR dept., asked many questions, paid my deposit and purchased airline tickets. Do as much research as you can and the surgeon that makes the most sense for your situation will come to light, there are good options. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
