Hello, my name is Sandra, and I live in the UK. I had my band on 23rd Oct 2013 (3 days ago). Everything went really well, apart from the sore shoulders afterwards, which seem to be easing up a bit today. I really enjoy reading everyone`s story, and have gotten a little bit of useful information and tips from here and there. Are most of you in the States? It seems like everybody`s post op diet differs, I am on Clear Liquids for 3 days, then onto Protein Shakes and Soups (no chunks) for 1 week, and then onto purees. My follow up visit is not for 6 weeks. Will keep you all updated with my progress :-)

You will find that every surgeon is different. I've even heard of people with no post op diet which I cant imagine. Just do what your surgeon tells you and you should do good.

My post op diet was very similar to yours. This is good since many have to endure weeks of clear fluids followed by creamy fluids.

HI johoops, for the clear, I was drinking mint tea (to help with the gas pain - also hot Water with a couple of drops of peppermint oil from Holland and Barratt) clear fruit juice, consommé and Bovril. Today I had a cream of vegetable Soup, which I passed through a sieve, for my lunch, and 200mls of slimfast for my supper ( fruit juice and/or tea for mid snacks) and this has actually made me feel quite satisfied. My gas pain has gone from being in both shoulders, to just the one, thankfully, I have read on here some people are having to endure it for weeks/months!

Today is my last day of full liquids, tomorrow I can have purees, so I`ve stocked up on a few things and today I`m going to have a cooking fest, making a few different meals and stews, then I will blend them, and I have bought lots of small tupperware boxes, and I will measure out meals into them and then freeze them - looking forward to getting a few flavours in my mouth, not so bothered about not having something to chew.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
