So, there I am, scheduled for Mr. Band on Nov 14th, thinking I had a couple weeks before pre-op diet to have a couple nice steaks. Yesterday morning I get a call.... SURPRISE, we've rescheduled your surgery for Oct 29th, you need to start your pre-op diet tomorrow (which is today now). Holy horsesnot Batman, I'm totally unprepared. Well, am I as unprepared as I thought....

I quit drinking pop Aug 17th, unsweetened tea since then, tapering off the caffeine each day by watering down the tea more and more. Started trying different Protein shakes in early September to find one I liked, been having them for Breakfast and lunch for about a month now. Found out that Syntha-6 Isolate, chocolate Milkshake, is the f'ing bomb and is my shake of choice. So... today, had 3 Protein Shakes thus far, and am allowed 4 per day, and zero caffeine - Water only. That only totals 660 calories, can this be right? Holy hippo turds Batman, that's not very many calories :o

Maybe I'm not as unprepared as I thought, but I need your help.... I'm allowed beef/chicken broth, sugar free candy/gum and sugar free popsicles. Can you tell me some good brands of these items? Thanks to all who participate in this site and make it such a valuable tool!!!!

i like Knorr-Caldo Con Sabor de Pollo chicken flavor bouillon. i find it in the mexican food section at the store. i buy the canister, i hate unwrapping litttle packages. of course popsicles brand puts out the most flavorable popsicle. dont forget your crystel lite. it is a life saver . i dont know where you buy your proten shakes but Amazon is a lot cheaper than most outlets. good luck and use us whenever you need to

Congrats on the earlier surgery date! I'm not sure of brand name of the sf Popsicles, but I like the tropical flavors better than the standard cherry, grape and lime. Also Swanson makes some broths with flavors like tortilla Soup, and hot and sour. I mixed the hot and sour with low sodium beef broth because otherwise it's really spicy! If your doc allows sf Jello, grab some of that too.

Congratulations -- I wish they'd call and move mine up -- time to get this show on the road! Good luck with the pre-op diet. Nice to get a chunk off prior to surgery and shrink that liver to make band placement easier. I start my formal pre-op next Tues. then surgery 11/5. You sound very prepared -- great that you went off soda and you are weaning off caffeine. I've been doing some of that myself and identifying behavioral weaknesses (stress eating, evening drink/snack habits, etc.). Good luck to you -- keep us posted!

LOL congrats! I like the Campbell's beef broth in the milk type (or juice box type) container. I thought it has a very nice beefy taste.

Nothing beats homemade chicken broth and it's cheap and easy!

1 whole chicken, quartered

1 medium onion, quartered

3 celery stalks broken in half

3 carrots broken in half

2 bay leaves

10 peppercorns

Salt to taste

Throw it all in a large stock pot with 12 cups of Water and simmer for 4 hours. Strain everything out and refrigerate overnight. Skim off the fat on top and viola!

I freeze 12 individual 1 cup servings in little tupperware dishes and get one out when I want. I also pick all of the chicken meat off and freeze it in 1/2 cup servings and thaw it as needed to make salads or add to Soups once you're back to eating solids.

My surgeon makes us find this during called Nestle impact in vanilla flavor.

It is said to help the healing process.

As for Popsicles I bought Eddys sugar free. They are really good. Specially the raspberry and mandating flavor.

I get banded on the 29th of October. I'm kinda freaking out.

Good luck to you!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
