Ok great! For some reason I trust lapbandtalk.com more than the dr. Lol. I can't wait until my preop tomorrow because I have a gazillion questions for my doc.

Make a list before you go so you don't forget to ask anything. And, don't be afraid to ask him a zillion questions, even if they seem silly or little. :)

Nope, no preop diet, barely any preop prep at all really. They told me not to have a "last supper" the night before surgery and what to have in the house for recovery. That was about it.

Careful, the three-week pre-op peeps might round up a posse and come after you -- you'll be pummeled with empty cans of Protein powder and spatulas with flax seeds stuck all over them!

I was so happy to finally get to have time with the surgeon after the various other appointments. He had a very thorough write-up of exactly what takes place. I used that to write questions in the margins, circle things I wanted to know more about, etc. and then we just talked for a while. I was glad to get to know him as we will be seeing quite a bit of each other in the coming months.

As for pre-op diet, they seem quite flexible. I will have a two-week liquid diet. I didn't want to use the product they provide because it's dairy based and laced with aspartame and other stuff I don't want to take. Two weeks of dairy would make my digestive system very unhappy and that's not a good plan. I found a naturopathic Meal Replacement shake that I've run by the nutritionist -- pea and rice Protein. I got the herbs, too, so I will be doing those as well as good ole liver cleansing standards like lemon in hot Water first thing in the AM, etc. I'm also having a colonoscopy -- figured I'd get that over with after procrastinating for two years. So a clear system for going into banded life and hopefully a little head start on weight loss as well.

Good luck -- let us know how your appointment goes!

My sister had the sleeve one month before me and I was shocked when she told me NO PRE-OP; however, I'd advice you to go on it to help shrink your liver so it's not in the way when they are performing their magic on you. But of course, what da hell do *I know?!! If it will help make you feel better and more at ease, I don't see how it can harm you.... If you're not keen on it, then don't, since your surgeon is the one "who knocks"<~(Reference to BB)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
