Any Band converters under........

My story is very similar to yours. Banded in 2006.. Lost 90lbs.. Felt sooo awesome... Then reflux set in.. Fluid removed .. Lots of meds... Gained 45# back. Having revision .. Rny on 12/23/13!! I am so excited but reading all these posts about slow weight loss after revision is making me very nervous. I hope it is a greater tool than the band was. Anyone have great revision stories ? I wish I would have NEVER done the band.. I'm sorry no one told me no band from the beginning . Merry Christmas to all.

Although my loss is slow...rny has been a totally different experience. I feel you have to be much more accountable than with the band. The band controlled how much you ate, it is very easy to overheat with rny so you have to be conscious of what and how you are eating. Much luck to you

Oh! Okay, did you have to do the pre-op diet too? I'm around 215 before pre-op and the nut said that I shouldn't have to do the full 30 days of liquids, but Dr. says yes I will have to and must stay compliant and lose a certain amount of weight while on it. I'm assuming around 195 by surgery time as well. I've been approved, but now don't know whether to do it or not. I'm afraid of what people would say if I became too thin. :(

I haven't had that problem. I am actually losing very slow 6 months out and I'm only down 20 lbs

Me too Mary. Band to bypass conversion on 10th October and losing around 1lb a week.

Why do you think that is? Sometimes I feel I can eat too much, the band made me stop eating and now I have to stop myself....I don't even think my idea of a portion is realistic anymore

We don't know why as the pouch looks ok. But I can definitely eat more than many people. I'm happy to be a slow loser as long as I'm losing something. And I have no evidence to back this up but I have heard that the slower you lose, the more likely you are to keep it off.

I was revised dec 31 and have lost 50 lbs. I'm also concerned about hearing being a slow loser with revision. The first 25 lbs came off in 8 days and the rest has been slower but so far I'm pleased. I'm trying to stay positive and I think sometimes we want it and want it NOW!!! Lol and have to focus on being healthy and not getting caught up with numbers. Just my thought for the day. Stay healthy and love yourself.

Well losing 25 lbs in 8 days I wouldn't expect. But all together I think you've done very well. All I want to lose is 60-65 lbs so I just might achieve that. I just know that I need to lose more, and I'm tired of the pain between my port and band. The Dr. said it's Constipation but when it flares up, it's really painful. Thank all of you for letting me know that I'm not the only one. I still want to know if others are having this at a low weight.

I lost amazingly, remarkably fast with the Band (which my doctor said was unusual). And after three years of complications, had the band pulled out in November, and the RNY on February 10.

Since the bypass surgery, I have lost 17 pounds (almost 6 weeks) which I know is great, BUT ... the zillions of people who did not have the band removed first are losing 30, 35, or 40 in the first month. I was so concerned that I was "doing something wrong" that I called my doctor's office. They reassured me that for whatever reason, the weight loss is MUCH SLOWER after revision surgery.

I feel bummed. Then again, I have no reflux, no gird, no gurgling afwul sound after I take a sip of Water. I sleep at night, I never throw up. Sounds good to me. I can wait for the wait to come off, as long as it comes off!!

Hello! I was banded in 09, lost 45 lbs in the first 6 months, started having severe acid reflux and port pain. Dr. said the band has to go. I now weigh 215 and due to my diabetes, my Dr. has decided that RNY is the best solution for me. I'm just concerned about losing too much. Has anyone else had RNY or going to have RNY that weigh 220 or less? I'd love to hear from you.

I weighted 223 and had band last yr. Lost 40, had same issues as you, had band removed in Dec, was at 180#, had to gain 5# to get to 35 BMI for gastric. . Had gastric Jan 9, was at 190, now I'm 158 losing is slow when you are our size.. you will be happy once you get it done

Thank you so much for that. I believe that I will. I have a high sitting stomach and look pregnant at my age. My insurance will pay. but my program fees are expensive to get the ball rolling.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
