I'm doing good today. Yesterday dr tanner had to go off on by nurse. I went three hours with no IV so I had no pain meds or nausea meds. I went to my X-ray with no meds. When he came in and saw that I had no working IV he was very angry.

How did pre op go

It went well! Usually I have to get stuck a 100 times before they hit a vein but the girl got it on the first stick! I was so nervous while I was there and my doctor talked to me and that helped calm my nerves a little.

That is awful kkelly37 which nurse was it? I went off on a nurse along with my husband one night. She informed me she had to get report that why I had to wait 1 hour for pain meds. Needless to say that was the wrong thing to say. I informed her if you worked for me on my nursing unit that would never come out of her mouth patients come first.

I had surgery on 10/21- Monday and wanted to give an update. So, I had the rny, and I also had my ovaries removed. I was in surgery a total of 4.5 hours. I guess they ran into a lot of scar tissue when working on my ovaries. I have 3 extra holes because of that. Day 2 was BY FAR the worst as far as pain. We were trying to remove the IV and keep my pain under control with oral meds. Bleck. I wanted to walk a bunch more than I did, but it was hard to keep getting someone in the room to unhook my leg massager things, and reattach my oxygen to the portable oxygen tank. For some reason my oxygen kept tanking. I finally started using the spirometer thing (spelling?) and was able to cough up a bunch of gunk.....that helped my sat's a ton.

When I came home I still needed a lot of help transferring. Getting up, sitting or laying down etc. Today is the first day I am doing it on my own. I havent hit my Protein goal yet, but will try again today. I am getting good Water however- so yay! Ooooh in the hospital they gave me this NASTY stool softener- and sent a huge bottle home with me. Turns out, I don't need it at all. Seems the more liquids go in, the same amount come out. The hardest part is trying to twist and get wiped and cleaned up. Sorry....probably TMI....but I try to time my 'bathroom' events to be shortly after I have taken a pain med so its more tolerable.

Hope this helps someone. I know I was sure craving these detailed stories before my surgery- so here is mine. Hugs and prayers to everyone!!

Congrats on your surgery! Now about not twisting and what not. Is that because of having your ovaries removed as well? I'm having my rny on Monday and I am super shy when it comes to people looking anywhere down there. Much less wiping.. Does everyone have that problem?

I've been able to wipe myself since day 1 and even showered the first time by myself today

Im not sure which part it has been about....the ovaries or the rny.Yeah Im the same way about having someone help me wipe....I have had to be very creative lol. It was good to see kkelly post about not having that issue....perhaps it was the ovary part. Hopefully we can get some other feedback for you as well.Hugs to you!!! And good luck!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
